I agree with this statement. For Ethel this is pretty impressive. I don't think they will beat Stringer in the 2nd round but, I think they will at least get to play them.

probably no later than thursday

We will know this coming week.

Well it feels good to be relevant again. Just goes to show that coaching matters. We still have talent here. Yes there are challenges with these players but they know the history of this program. Coach Vance has embraced that tradition and the older fans/former players are supporting the team again. Attendance has grown from 500 fans a game to 5,000 per game and I suspect we will see the biggest crowd at Ray Stadium in at least 10 years. Best of all our kids are having fun playing football.

Ethel upset Nanih Waiya and won a district title for the first time since 1995. They also have not won a playoff game since 1991, but that should change when they play West Lincoln next Friday. For a program with a 36% all time winning percentage, this has been a great year for them. Definitely wouldn’t be considered “historic” for the blue blood programs in the state, but in comparison to their recent history, this has been a great year for them.
-
Yea and both teams going home next Friday and crying back on their bus
-
What's "historic" about Ethel this season?
-
2 bad teams fighting like crazy

good explanation on the north 1A
-
With the regular season coming to a close and playoffs beginning, 1A football appears to have two clear projected favorites to make an appearance in Starkville. Leflore County would be my clear favorite for the North representative, and Simmons would be my pick from the south. While both teams seem to be the clear powers in their respective geographical regions (even though both teams are from the Delta but split between North and South), here are a few questions to discuss regarding possible shakeups we could see occur in the coming weeks to impact these projections: 1. Will Tupelo Christian’s strength of schedule catch up to them, or do they have what it takes to compete with Calhoun City and Leflore County down the stretch? 2. Is Lumberton at home good enough to scare Simmons and potentially send them home early assuming both teams meet in the 3rd round? 3. Can Junior Graham’s Ethel Tigers make a run to the South State championship, or will Stringer or South Delta end their historic season prior?

4A North & South 1st Round Predictions

I thought Moss Point would get the 4th seed in that division because they beat Bay but Bay beat Forrest County which i think gave them the nod to get the 4th seed in region 8! 7 classes makes things like that happen like Northeast Lauderdale has only 1 win and they’re making the playoffs because its only 4 teams in that district which is region 5 -
4A North & South 1st Round Predictions

Yeah i agree Houston and Greenwood evenly matched but i like GWood to seal the deal in the final few minutes of that game! I picked New Albany because they seem to know how to get out the first round! Neither team has played great toward the end of the season but i like New Albany to pull through -
Geeze. How'd Bay make the playoffs? AH... Seven classes
-
Houston and Greenwood is a sneaky 1st rd match up and they matchup even well, both teams got speed and athletes. I not sure about New Albany way they played Corinth if they don't play better against Rosa Fort New Albany will get upset at home

Ripley @ Corinth Itawamba @ Koscuisko North Pontotoc @ Senatobia Greenwood @ Houston Yazoo City @ Shannon Tishomingo County @ Clarksdale Amory @ Louisville Rosa Fort @ New Albany South Pike @ West Lauderdale NE Lauderdale @ Poplarville Forrest County @ Morton Bay @ Mendenhall Choctaw Central @ McComb Forest @ Pass Christian Columbia @ Newton County

I would sit out next week. As of now looks like WJ will host Pearl River Central in Round 1

Our offense was garbage because their d line was faster off the ball than our o line. Right side o line been giving up pressure all year. Hattiesburg’s d line tore it apart. wests d backs are terrible. D line has good moments but mostly it’s sub par. Hattiesburg’s offensive game plan was great in the first half. Had west not forced the fumble and recovered, then had the pick later in first half, I have no doubt Hattiesburg drives and scores those 2 possessions. West starting rb had 5 or 6 carries for 0 yards in first half. He did not see the field but 1 play in 2nd half. He had less than 10 carries last week. He did not play in 3 games earlier in season due to ankle injury. I was just told his mom taking him to the hospital. Tootie passed concussion tests on sidelines but coaches decided not to bring him back in out of safety reasons.

Great win for y’all. It was kind of impressive. I know that’s a breath of fresh air for y’all as well. Enjoy it.

Watch the replay of our game. The holding penalties were insane. I can’t say I’ve seen anything like it before.
-
Yeah lotta flags. Congrats on the win. Your QB was really accurate in the 1st half. Our game plan on offense was garbage in the 1st half. Hope to see yall again in 4 weeks.
-
The unsportsmanlike i can agree on. But all those holding calls on both sides you gotta keep that flag in the pocket on some plays and let both teams get in a flow

Auburn-Ole Miss. Auburn caught lightning in a bottle against Georgia but I don’t see it happening again. Ole Miss wins comfortably 30-14. State-Texas. Conventional wisdom says this should be a blow out but I actually look for State to play well and keep the game closer than expected. Texas 31-20. Florida-Georgia line. Georgia takes care of business 28-14. South Carolina, gonna keep riding with them over an Oklahoma team that is simply not very good. SC 34-17. Missouri 28, Arkansas 27. Game will be closer than expected. USM 42, ULM 28 LSU beats Open Date in a night game in Red Stick to mollify their whiny coach and fans. Minnesota with the upset of the day over Indiana 17-16.

Meridian going to be a sneaky team in 7A South Playoff
-
It wouldn’t be horrible, but you would need to swap mize and lake. The biggest issue would still be having a team that needs to be in region 7 and forcing them somewhere else. If Enterprise Lincoln were in region 8, every single region opponent is over an hour away, with Perry central being almost 2 hours away. Just seems to me the more reasonable thing to do would be the have one 6 team region and one 4 team region instead.
