5A South 1st Round

About East Central passing.  They throw 3 to 4 times if it is a competitive game, otherwise probably none.  Problem is your safety gets so used to looking in the backfield, the TE scored from about 60 yards out vs. Gautier.  This game was much closer than the score and was not decided until the last 4 minutes.  The TE dropped a td pass vs. Vancleave and if memory serves, did catch a long one.  Its just a fact, if you play them with 4 defensive backs and linebackers 4-5 yards deep, you may as well forfeit.  You have got to load the box and bring it or else you have no chance.  They are in 4 down territory outside their own 30 in most cases because when you're gashing defenses, why wouldn't you.  Good luck to both teams.  It will be a game where the seed placements may be irrelevant.

yes.  but will WJ be able to move the ball on EC?

WJ was held scoreless in the first half against WC. They made an adjustment and went to a jumbo wildcat formation. They brought in two big guys offensive or defensive linemen as extra blockers out of the backfield. They direct snapped to a tight end they had lined up at QB. Yes in that formation with the size they have up front they can move the ball. It may not be chunk plays but it will wear a defense out. To let you know what kind of coach WJ has he knew he was down to a young QB and had other key players out. He installed this offense on a Tuesday before the game on Thursday. Then had the trust in his team to run it

Not knocking the coach, but that's not exactly the spread... Would take about 5 min to install

reminds me of an “electric football” formation

Where is this game to be played?  If it is in Soso you better check the official's roster before you start.

If what I’m hearing rumblings of is true it is one of the dirtiest, crooked, most underhanded moves in high school football I’ve ever heard of.

I mean we joke about things like that all the time on here but to see it played out in real life, I have lost a lot of respect for Scott Pierson.

Well I can tell you the basketball coach was the official that threw the flag on both TD’s that were called back.

So he basically decided the game and they didn’t say a word about it. Our people had to find out through the grapevine we’ll after the fact.

Don't he work for Pierson who is athletic director and doesn’t some of his basketball players play football too ?

Officials now will come from neutral sites, but you can still get screwed over. Lol

I mean that’s good to know and all but I’m pretty sure we will have someone to record officials and their bio from now on.

Is what I described within the rules ? You’re an old striped shirt.

If it's not illegal, it's sure as heck unethical.

Our basketball coach noticed him I believe at some point in the 2nd quarter.

Well somethings brewing about it because WC had a basketball game over there on Friday night and our athletic department refused to let them go play.

Keep in mind he was on the same side as Coach Pierson and he called back two long TD runs for Wayne County.

The basketball coaches decided among themselves to not go to it.

I’m not even going to cry about what this could have did to the seedings. We will line up and go play wherever they tell us too.

But man, Coach Pierson, I thought he was better than that. At least walk over and tell Coach Hankins pregame and find out if he has any issues with it.

And then again I guess he couldn’t really walk over after the game and say “ oh by the way , that guy that called the two touchdowns back, he works for me . He’s our basketball coach. Have a nice trip to the coast. “ . Might have been a problem.

I don’t have a dog in this dance, but if I did, I’d certainly be making a couple of official calls to the assigning officer over this choice of officials. Slick, that’s wouldn’t be crying, but watching out for your kids and coaches for the future games. In the least, this kind of conflict should be disclosed if it cannot be avoided. Even if his crucial calls were correct, the appearances couldn’t be worse. You’re a more patient man than I would be.

I know Hathorn made several calls and filed a grievance but what are they really gonna do.

Okay, then a grievance puts everything on the record, and at least gives a basis to address this kind of issue in the future. I can’t imagine a head of officials continuing to assign local coaches to games involving their own schools after knowing they are being scrutinized. Does that happen often, or am I the only one who’s surprised that it happens at all?
