pancho
I wasn't there and only have vague reports from sources but I will say I am familiar with the guy in the white hat............ This leads me to take the side of the Hamilton HC.
diamondwahoo24
Can confirm he did NOT have to be removed by police. Can also confirm that the ejection was 100% warranted. The outcome of the game was absolutely dictated by incompetency by the officiating crew. Hamilton started the game by recovering an onside kick, then scored on the second play from scrimmage. Hamilton then got a fumble recovery and return on Walnut's first play, then scored two plays later. Then Hamilton recovered yet another onside kick, but the officials put the brakes on extending the lead. Two plays later, Hamilton scored on a 42-yard run... called back because of too many men in the backfield, citing that the left tackle was "a little too far off the ball." Film proved otherwise. Regardless, a few plays later, Hamilton scores again on a 35-40ish-yard run. It gets called back for a hold on a kid who wasn't even in the game at the time. When that gets brought up, it gets changed to the hold being on a WR. The WR was near the endzone when the phantom hold occurred, so it couldn't have been him. The official then retracts a third time, and says it was on the right tackle. All-in-all, THREE touchdowns were called back on ghost calls, and Walnut had two scoring drives sustained by similar calls. Hamilton had twice the offensive production as Walnut, recovered two onside kicks, and forced four turnovers. I've never seen a such a travesty in all my days. A district football game was decided by six guys in striped jerseys. Not to mention, the game was unwarrantedly called with about 3 minutes left in the game, while Hamilton had two timeouts. Absolutely ridiculous. Edited October 20, 2024 by diamondwahoo24
pancho
The idiot deputy threatened to throw both the AD and Principal from Hamilton. The AD told him to go ahead if he wanted to be famous. The officials left the field supposedly for their own safety. you can't make this stuff up
JagsFan77
The coaches get called out week to week for boneheaded decisions. Why don't we see the officials names in the news when they screw up? We should make a thread listing the worst officials in each region. Make them as relevant as they try to be.

With the current official shortage I'm sure the one thing that would make more people want to be officials would be publicly shaming them when you disagree with judgement calls or lose a game and you look for an easy scapegoat instead of your own team's shortcomings. pancho
most will agree with your statement but I assure you. that is not the case in the hamilton HC deal at walnut. The entire crew probably should be reprimanded and suspended but won't due to the official shortages.

There's excuses.. then there's outright awful officiating. I have no problem with them being publicly shamed when they make blatantly biased calls. Perhaps some public ridicule will prompt them to do better. Same as the public ridicule of coaches. They get paid to do a job just like the coaches. They aren't above scrutiny. pancho
true but we gotta be careful and respect the guys in charge. knowing pertinent info on why a coach is on a hot seat or whether a certain RB got his court date moved to december just need to remain unknown.
