PRC (1-5) vs. George County (0-6)

With PRC coming off a big win over Long Beach and George County suffering a tough setback vs. Vancleave, who wins this game?  This game probably doesn't have any playoff implications tied to it, but it definitely has importance in regards to morale.  This could be a close ball game or it could be a blowout.  Who needs this win more?  I think after Friday we'll have an answer.  I think George County can win this game if they can piece together a good game plan, but PRC will be looking to keep the momentum going in Lucedale after a big (and probably unexpected) win over Long Beach.  If anybody has any thoughts on this game, please feel free to post them.  If not, then kindly disregard this thread.

Loser leave town game.

I'm definitely not trying to patronize anybody.  I realize this game doesn't deserve a thread, but I am just curious to see if George County can put things together enough for a win.  It'll be interesting to see how this game plays out.  Seeing George County sitting at 0-6 is probably something nobody envisioned before the season started.

So if George County loses to PRC and they have to leave town, where will they go?  That sounds like a great big logistical challenge.  I think things will be easier in that case for all parties involved if George County wins, don't you think?

Funny guy.

For the sake of competition, I hope both schools are better soon because it appears they'll be in 6A next year with Pascagoula.  Outside of Picayune and Gautier, the region isn't shaping up to be too salty.

I understand completely in regards to how things are in region 4, not too much excitement, but when you start to talk about next year and those teams being in 6A that's a totally different line of thought there.  I think PRC will struggle having to move up in classification, but they can't fudge their numbers to avoid it.

PRC is struggling in 5A and I don't think 6A will be much different.  I suspect that in football the 6A district will be weaker than their current 5A district.  The addition to the district would be Pascagoula, but EC and possibly Gautier will be in 5A.  Both are better than Pascagoula this year.  I'm not sure how adding Pascagoula to the football district suddenly makes it tougher.

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but I am hearing Gautier is going to be 5A based on numbers I was told. Region 4-6A next year from what I have gathered is shaping up to be:

George County

Pearl River Central

Pascagoula

West Harrison

Picayune

Long Beach

Gautier and East Central both will be losing quite a bit of talent from this year while Pascagoula I believe will be returning a lot. Not saying they will be better next year,  just pointing out that it is hard to gauge how good a team will be year to year. It will be interesting to see how Picayune's numbers shake out. I have heard they are borderline 5A/6A but trending more toward 6A. Gautier I hear is pretty much a lock for 5A along with East Central and Vancleave.

I heard that Hancock turned in lower numbers than West Harrison, but not sure how the guy that told me knew that.

Dang Yune may never lose another district game.

Wonderful.  Not looking forward to that at all with so many traditional matchups lost in this reshuffling.

Pascagoula is a wild card to some degree with the ambiguous status of the head coach.  There are athletes on this roster (particularly in the lower class ranks), certainly in more abundance than PRC, LB, WH, and George County.

Sims hanging it up after this season? I know there have been rumblings.

If this is the case, this is quite the shake-up.  I wasn't expecting Picayune to be 6A next year, but hey it is what it is at this point.  I think we will have to schedule some tougher non-region opponents to make the schedule a reduced fat Little Debbie cake.

Hattiesburg and Picayune need to play in 2023 and 2024 season. It will for sure benefit both teams.

There should be more in play here than his willful retirement.  Program has been mostly an embarrassment — including three losing seasons — since 2016.

Who’s coaching at George County now? They have always had some big linemen and usually plenty of skilled players to go with them. WC has had some battles down there with Eric Moulds and Billie Joe (R.I.P. ) he’s one of the best backs I’ve seen.

This is James Ray's third season as HC. George Co. hasn't been good since the mid-2000's

George County has had D1 talent the last few years and hasn’t won with it.

And that’s the thing that absolutely boggles my mind.  They’ve always had studs over there in Lucedale.  I’ve always wondered how they grew boys so big over there in George County.  I guess they get a lot of corn over there being in Eubanks Farms HQ and also right there by Baldwin County with the Silver King.  It’s hard for me to wrap my head around why they are having an abysmal season when literally everything is right there in front of them to be successful.

Coaching is almost everything at this level.
