Everyone that beats Florence will also beat Laurel. If I’m Florence coach I’m working on that game with my starters for two weeks. I wouldn’t let West Jones beat my starters two weeks in a row, they would low key see the Jv next Friday. They will beat Brookhaven if they are fresh and Crookhaven refs don’t make the ride up with them.I spent all the first half on the half watching from the sideline. Laurel has a tall order I don't think they can do it. Florence is one of those teams that is good but haven't reached their full potential, I'm sure most teams haven't. The question is, will they? if WJ lays the wood to them in a couple weeks (and Wj players and coaches have the one circled multiple times after last years playoff loss) they are done. Laurel may have gotten back on track after struggling for a couple weeks, Wayne co is playing well and Hattiesburg has put it together after a rough start. They will for sure if they lose all 3. I see Florence winning their final 3 games. Really would not be shocked if Laurel beats WJ. Crazy thing happen between those bricks. slicklizard Posted October 22, 2022 Share Posted October 22, 2022 I had time to process thie game tonight between the Tigers and Wayne County on my way back down I59. Some things need to be said. even if they are brutally honest. This was as poor of a performance as I have seen us put on since Coach Hankins came here. The coaches , players , the way they carried their selves, the whole operation was just milk toast and blah. I don’t know if our whole staff fully gets what they are facing with our region. You can’t come into these games with the same old same old. It’s going to get stopped. How many times did we run up the middle for one yard or less on third and four or five? They knew it was coming and stopped it with prejudice every time . Our offensive line got no push. You could see in warmups that the middle was going to be off limits to our offense. Hattiesburg defense toyed with our offense all game like a rat terrier with a mouse. Slapping him into the wall head over heels letting him run around before finally picking him up by the neck and shaking him out of thei world. Abuse may be a light term to use. Humiliation describes it more. I know I felt humiliated watching it. They are a nasty unit and I can see why they are tops in the region right now. Their offense is not that good. Our defense held them in check most of the night until they got tired after being thrown out there again again. I have to say it our offense is getting worse every game and it’s because everyone has seen what we are doing. They are bringing everyone up and daring us to throw. Especially on first down. I felt sorry for offensive line tonight, they were giving it their all but just getting overpowered.Bottom line we aren’t scoring points. That’s a bad formula for what is coming up. I would like to have a chance at one win anyway before we limp home. Our style is a better matchup to play keep away with a team like Gautier rather than trying to hold serve with Picayune.
