rebmus
LULZWUT? If it's really a "killer sold out rock show", why is there a need to give away tickets? Edited September 29, 2022 by rebmus
MSTSatchmo
Comments said someone bought 100 tickets and is giving the 100 tickets away. The comments also said it was to raise money for NIL? I’m not really sure what qualifies as players being paid for name, image and likeness anymore. Also, I’m not sure why I’m putting much stock in Twitter comments either. Dawg83
I am not the biggest Steve Robertson fan but I’ll give him credit for trying to help with the NIL thing, even if in vain. State is massively behind other SEC schools on that front.
MSTSatchmo
I know OM has The Grove Collective. I’ve heard of other schools’ alumni starting “collectives” to sign players and pay them. Are the players actually doing anything to get paid that would satisfy being paid for name, image or likeness? To me it seems like, “hey, sign here, have some money, see you at the game”
Dawg83
Who knows, I just gotta roll my eyes when those three letters even get brought up. It’s not fun to talk about and it all feels like another step in the wrong direction for a sport that’s been going downhill for close to a decade now. Bulldogs4
Back, way back it was done under the table. Decades ago when I was a student at State a good friend of my Dad’s would take care of getting the basketball players TV’s each year. One year when State was playing at Ole Miss in basketball, several of us made a road trip to Oxford to see the game. Ole Miss won. Later we were at a party with some OM friends and several of the basketball players came to join in the fun. One of them said, when they got back into the locker room, each one of them found a $100 bill in their locker. How all this plays out is going to be very interesting over the next several years. But for now it seems to resemble the Wild, Wild West. Unfortunately, IMO, it along with the transfer portal are going to make for poorer and more inconsistent performances on the field.
