Natchez defeated (4-8/2-8) Vicksburg and (4-5) Jefferson County in 2020. Among the teams they lost to were 2A-at-the-time tyrant Wesson and the South Jones juggernaut.

I totally agree because usual Natchez be a ok team because their athletic. That usually mean you win a few games and be competitive.

I’m surprised that George County is nowhere to be found in the top 10 in 5A.  I think they’ll be a thorn in the flesh for a lot of teams they face this year.

I will say this while I’m on my soap box.  George County is going to thrive being back in 5A.  They got dealt one of the worst hands possible while they were in 6A.  They would definitely take Natchez to the woodshed if they had to play them.

They have a 6'4 230 QB who passed for over 1400 yards and 16 TDs; and have a D-1 RB and WR; they were young last year; they also have a big talented O-line; they will be much better this year; you will see. Them being young last year means they will be better this year.

Natchez has had one actually decent team this century and they lost in the first round, so the jury is out until talent matches performance

So glad rankings don’t mean nothing in high school football! Every year Poplarville is ranked #1 in the preseason in 4A but we all know how that turns out! Stayed tuned!

What make you think that any of the other teams you overlooked won’t be better this year also? In case you didn’t know. Hattiesburg was wayyy younger than some people think last year. If you think they will regress seeing as you never mention them the slightest your wrong.

Typically score differentials tend to not be the best indicator of which team would defeat another, but when the difference in outcomes of a common opponent is this pronounced, one should be able to make a qualified guess as to which was, and will be, the better squad.

According to this ranking Mendenhall is ranked #10 in 4A but is playing 5 ranked teams plus 5A Laurel. Are you sure they are the 10th ranked team in 4A?

Mendenhall finished 6-4 last year and has most of their team coming back including a very good QB'; they should be one of the top five 4a teams in the south.
