You don't have to go that far north to get challenged in a non-division game.  Just come over here and get some Cuevas' some time before a Maroon Tide game next year.  It's our last stronghold LOL!

I loved that we played in the spring, but would like to see a regular season game soon. Two totally different offensive schemes, and that would prepare both teams for what they face in the playoffs.  Picayune has always tried to play up against 6A teams, including Gulfport and d’Iberville. Sadly, d’Iberville will be down this season, so you or us won’t get a lot of competition. Can’t wait to hear from my Warrior friends, but they just don’t have a lot of talent coming back. Good coach, though. Good luck to y’all tonight.

Clinton was a north - half team last nite. (but yes I see you're also referencing next season)

Yeah, and I doubt we play them again next year. I’d like to see NW Rankin or somebody else who can challenge and maybe even beat us to get ready for the playoffs. I expected a better game last night, but not sure if it was O.S. playing great (they did) or Clinton playing bad. I thought they were bringing back a lot of talent, but they got pushed around.

David, you're not the first person I've heard say this and I very well know you could be spot on by saying it now, early, but d'Iberville being down is one of the deals where I'll believe it when I see it.  And when you say down, does that mean dropping to a 4 seed, or all the way out of the postseason ??

I can only go by what I hear and what I saw last year, when every single starter was a senior but one of two. Can’t speak on how much playing time the backups got, but there’s a reason they were backups. I like the new coach, and he’s saying all of the right things about young guys stepping up, but there’s usually a reason coaches get out if the cupboard is bare. Believe me, we’ve taken our beatings from well coached and talented d’Iberville teams, but last year was the first in a long time where the talent level was on our side. If I acted like we can’t get competition on the Coast, I shouldn’t have said that, but I think for the next couple of years, we’ve got a run of talent and the coach to make it better. If you saw the t.v. station report, the underlying theme was how the young, inexperienced players will have to get better. Glad we play em early, I guess. Gulfport will probably be the competition in these upcoming seasons. Now, I wait for the d’Iberville response.

Okay, thanks. I wish Ocean Springs had the same tough schedule that they do. While I think we have an elite team, I’d like to be challenged before the playoffs. Maybe we should reach out to Oak Grove or one of those north half teams to start the season next year.

Unless Hubbard can get an extra year of high school eligibility do not put oak grove on your schedule next year 😂. I’m usually pretty humble but we are very Junior heavy

David:

So out of:

Pascagoula

St Martin

Biloxi

Hancock

Do any of these teams make the postseason before d'Ibervillle in 2022??

Oh, I know. It’s a long range strategy to make the O.S. program better by actually playing the teams that will be faced in the postseason. Even losing gives the players and coaches a look at the better teams. We’ve been hearing for years how down the Coast teams are because they don’t take it serious or play tougher schedules. This is my attempt at upgrading the competition.

Now, we do have a 9th grade QB being looked at and rated near the top of his class in that position, but we all know how that works sometimes. Coach Pennick has instituted a better workout and weight program throughout the grades, which has payed off already at the high school. Our starting lines both average maybe 20 lbs. higher than when he got here.

In my defense, I never said that d’Iberville would miss the playoffs, and expect their overall program to reload quickly. If I did have to pick, I’d give Hancock and Goula the best shots because of their QB situation. Biloxi lost a good one who transferred to Petal and will start, and St. Martin just doesn’t have enough around their all world WR. Goula has dual threat Parnell, and Hancock has Moran. The Warriors probably snag the #4 seed, or maybe #3 over Harrison Central, but this is their worst team in a decade. I actually hope that they prove me wrong, but my usually bragging buddies from there are pretty quiet. It happens sometimes.

I can respect that. More teams on the coast could use a coach like him.

Madison Central 22

West Jones 0

In the 2nd.

Madison central looks in midseason form.  West Jones looks like a team that hasn't practiced much in 2 weeks (have had to practice in the gym).  WJ breaking in 4 new kids in secondary against a D1 QB and WR.  WJ 8th grade wr had a costly fumble.  And the offense looks out of sorts.
