Just curious... why haven't we heard how this Delta juggernaut is going to rise again this year?

Is it because they have only 20 mostly underclassmen players on their roster? (that's the fault of poor school administration,  of course).

Getting my popcorn ready.

Just poking fun, of course.  I hope they achieve as much as they can, but it'll be tough until they can get their numbers back up.

My heart goes out to many communities in the Delta because they are struggling with resources, population loss, dedicated leadership, and an all around atmosphere that breeds academic and athletic success. The schools usually have athletic talent but don't always have the support from administration, coaches or the community just because so many people are struggling to get by especially in that part of the world.

Every Delta County should Consolidate to 1 or 2 schools with the exception of Clarksdale, Greenville, Greenwood, Yazoo schools which are just 2 the city and county, Holmes, N Carrollton George, Montgomery County. I can see Madison County creating West Madison to avoid overloading.

I can South Delta as as consolidated already. Bolivar County, Washington County should be further consolidated.

South Delta consolidated in 1995. Just the town of Cleveland alone has 8,000 more people than the 6 cities of Sharkey County that South Delta consist of.  Three cities you named above Clarksdale, Greenville and Greenwood are decreasing in population just as the smaller delta cities are so not sure why those three stand out to you. The only city that’s thriving in the delta is Cleveland and a lot of that is from outside money being brought in.

The delta needs to consider mass consolidation

In the instance of Bolivar County it's a pretty decent haul from Rosedale to Cleveland to Shaw to Shelby so I'd say they are down to about as many schools as they could have without some lengthy bus rides.

Leflore County should have some degree of consolidation since Greenwood and the county schools are one district. Elzy and Greenwood High are very close to each other yet Elzy students come from the county so their bus and car rides would increase.

O'Bannon is in the Greenville city limits (or close) but is in a different district and I'm not quire sure where their students pull from since Leland and Hollandale both have districts of their own.

District consolidation is a more pressing issue as there are just too many for a state our size.

Then you got cities like Alligator and Duncan that are in Bolivar County but would be closer to Coahoma County that’ll be some lengthier bus rides.

The other issue is every school also have students in county communities and unincorporated areas that sits either on or very close to county lines. For example, Shaw goes all the way to south to the Washington County county line and a county line road literally separates what goes to either Shaw in Bolivar County or Leland in Washington County within that unincorporated community. Shaw city limits also slightly crosses over into Sunflower County and students are accepted that are within x amount of miles into Sunflower County. If there was a centralized school or town within the county it would be easier. The next easiest thing would be to do like the court systems and have a West and East. The West side is already setup with West Bolivar in Rosedale but they would have to then find a way combined all the eastern schools within the county. This option would still leave long bus rides for student.

1 Tunica Rosa Fort

2 Clarksdale

   Coahoma County

   Coahoma Collegiate

3 Cleveland

 West Bolivar

North Bolivar

Shaw

Cut to 2 or build 1 large school west of Cleveland

4 MS Palmer

5 West Tally

 East Tally

Throw Charleston in somewhere

6 Greenville

Leland and other small schools

7 Ruleville Central

8 N Carrollton George

9 Greenwood

 Leflore County

10 Holmes County Central

11 South Delta

12 Yazoo City

    Yazoo County

13 West Madison Flora Livingston

14 West Hinds if Clinton gets crowded

15 Coldwater closed being the County seat should have built a new school for the town instead of students traveling West.

So who needs to consolidate?

1.) Who exactly would Tunica Rosa Fort consolidate with? 2.) Coahoma Collegiate is an elementary school.  3.) You talk as if Bolivar County only consist of the cities of Cleveland, Rosedale, Shaw and Mound Bayou/Shelby(NorthSide not North Bolivar). Again, Bolivar County consists of 16 cities stretched out over 850 square miles. The nucleus just happens to be those towns. The only town centrally located that is also west of Cleveland would be Pace and any Bolivar County person would laugh at that idea. 5.) East Tally is a school district that Charleston is in, not a school. 7.) Not sure why Ruleville Central is mentioned since they’re the only school in their district but if they were to consolidate it would have to be with Gentry since they’re both in Sunflower County as is part of Shaw. That’s also a nice stretch between cities. 9.) You left out Amanda Elzy while mentioning Greenwood. 10.) Holmes County Central already consolidated Marshall and Durant.

Just listing schools or districts off top of my head. Just not a lot of consolidating left to do except in Bolivar and Washington counties.

Bolivar County is the second largest county in the state in landmass. That’s a lot of bussing to one school that’s going to have to happen.

Tallahatchie County is huge in land mass also, the busing would be unreal. There is no middle area that isn't in the middle of a cotton/bean field as there are only a few incorporated towns

???????Just not possible.
