How good will East Webster be? And is there any idea If EW HC, Price will be interested in the open Corinth job?  He is an Alcorn county native.

This is true. They won't be able to withstand the every week pounding of region play.

Slick it's possible that the no.4 team in our region could possibly be better than the no.1 team in region 4. Not sure besides the qb what Gautier has coming back but I saw cracks in Picayune at the end of last season

I can guarantee you that if it’s a dark horse in that 5a group it’s not Natchez it’s Hattiesburg.

I respect your opinion on your list, but I’m not sold on Tupelo. The Golden Wave had a few solid years under Hammond, but they haven’t really been relevant since the late 90s. I graduated and played football at Tupelo but until the coaches actually play the real talent over the booster club kids they will be the same full of talent team that gets put out 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs.

Everyone in our region can be considered a dark horse besides West Jones . They will be breaking in a new qb and our region is not kind to them so anything can happen. Don’t sleep on the new look war eagles either.

I think in all four teams for sure break in new qbs. WJ, Hattiesburg, Laurel and WC if y’all go another direction. I think it will be a pretty even tug between the four. Region 3 will be outright tough especially with Brookhaven and Florence in the mix. South Jones & Natchez ehh, we’ll see.

Don’t think Tupelo has been the booster club team in a long time.  I know their JH teams have been loaded the last few years.   I’m not saying they win 6A but I am saying their talent is suppose to the best they’ve had since the 90’s.

Tupelo has been playing booster club kids consistently since the 2000 season. The few years Hammond had success he got away from it and you see he’s no longer there.   If Hardin can break that tradition he will be great at Tupelo.  Until then it will be more of the same.  The most talented kids don’t even come out to play football because of this and it has been like that for years.

Lake Cormorant is definitely a team that flies under the radar year in and year out. They return almost every major player that contributed off of their roster from last year. They got put out last season by Ridgeland who played in the North Half Championship on a last second pass play with like 5 seconds left and led almost the entire game. Everyone forgets that this team dominated West Point last year at West Point which NEVER happens they were up 35-19 and West Point scored with seconds left to make it 35-26. Lake Cormorant started 4 Freshmen last year and a Sophomore at RB that dislocated his elbow late in year versus Grenada that will be one of the best players in the state.

The new coaches son was his QB last season and went 10-2. So he knows his offense and he’s been under the lights. I will say the lights in south 5A are much brighter. But if he winds up the starting QB he has experience. Sebastian Chaffin I will be a senior he was the starting QB at WC last season. They also have a very talented QB who will be a Sophomore next season. The question will be the scheme and how the kids buy in. I believe they are buying in just fine.

who is the OC?

Lane Brady is the name I have been told previously. Spent most of his career in Pine Belt. Moved to Long Beach with Pigott when he got the job there. They ran split back veer because that was what Ross wanted. Hearing they are now moving back to more of a spread look. Also heard he lost longtime DC Doug Lucas as well. So curious to see how Long Beach looks defensively as well.

Moss Point will be an interesting situation. They lost both their OC and DC this off-season along with their 4-year starter QB and some other great players. They do return some talent, but losing your OC, DC and some key players is a huge blow in my opinion. They are going to have great athletes though and will be able to run and compete with anybody. Their region is not very difficult so they should contend for a region crown.
