I bet they were pressuring Dart for a commit this weekend. I’m actually surprised he didn’t. I haven’t heard what other schools he is considering. JT Daniels is back in the portal. Daniels is the #1 available right now then. It’ll be interesting to see if he stays at Georgia or leaves. It’s crazy to see guys wanting to leave Georgia instead of playing for the clear national championship favorite next season.

I wouldn’t think UGA would be the favorite for next year with what they’re losing, although they’ll always be good with Smart there. Also, as far as Daniels goes, it’s been how long since he has had significant action?
Hard Knocks
It’s not often that a team loses its entire backfield and RB’s coach from the previous season, but next season Ole Miss can say they did. We just thought the offense was on the struggle bus this season. We haven’t seen nothing yet! Edited January 19, 2022 by Hard Knocks

MSTSatchmo
OM did pickup what appears to be a good OL from Western KY. He supposedly had a dozen offers after entering the portal. State is losing another WR. Malik Heath has entered the portal. He had a lot of hype coming out of high school, but has had an up and down career. That’ll definitely help whoever is throwing or carrying the ball.
Hard Knocks
Brenden Rice, Son of NFL Hall of Fame WR Jerry Rice, Transfers to USC from Colorado I thought this was worth mentioning. I’m kind of surprised he didn’t commit to playing at Jackson State considering their new found popularity. But then again Jerry Rice left Mississippi and never looked back so it’s no surprise. pancho
Mason Brooks is an excellent pickup for Kiffin. He was highly sought after placing his name in the portal. Leach will not miss Heath. State nearly brings back the entire starting offense minus the 2- O tackles. Good Tackle play is critical in that offense so that is where the emphasis will be placed in the off season. I see Pegues has transferred to Kiffin, what does the D line look like for next year in Oxford? Edited January 19, 2022 by pancho

Might as well look at them like JUCO players. They should come in and make an immediate impact. Ole Miss lost Sam Williams on the DL. I assume it will be some what of a reset next season like several other positions.

Bennett will graduate and while Daniels will have to compete with Vandagriff, it is likely that a healthy Daniels would win.
Bulldogs4
I am guess I am puzzled about Daniel’s situation. He played against State in 2020 but I don’t know that he has played any other game besides that one game. So how good is he? He did have a great game against State (but was playing against a severely depleted defense) but that is probably not the best indicator of his true talent. I never heard his name in 2021. But with the COVID year , I presume he has two years left. Will be interesting to see where he ends up if he leaves Georgia.
Hard Knocks
Keidron Smith, defensive back who won the 2021 Chucky Mullins award, has entered the portal. He was a solid player for 4 years and has 1 year of eligibility left. Another though loss for the Rebs. Really strange to see a Chucky Mullins award winner transferring to another school. Maybe I’m misunderstanding though. Could he stay at Ole Miss if he wanted to or does he have to transfer in order to play another year? Yes entering the transfer portal doesn't necessarily mean you're gone. You can just be recruited by other schools now.
MSTSatchmo
So OM fans, who do y’all think you will end up with at QB out of the portal? Daniels and Dart are the two biggest names mentioned. What do you think the odds of landing one of them are, and who else in the portal is a potential pickup?
rebmus
Ole Miss hired Southern Cal assistant Dane Stevens and Kiffin has an in home visit with Dart today. No idea where Dart ends up, but OM is definitely in the game.
pancho
The key will be who else associated with Oxford will contact Dart. That is where the tidings of great joy abound.

rebmus
Just now, MSTSatchmo said: Was the USC hire to increase the odds of getting Dart and the TE? You have to believe it played a role in Ole Miss hiring him. He's seemed to have done a good job of recruiting and being a QB analyst for USC and he's also from Georgia so he knows the SEC landscape. Seems like a decent enough hire whether or not it lands Dart and the TE.
MSTSatchmo
SI is reporting that Dart has been admitted to OM and should be starting classes soon. Huge pickup by Kiffin. Credit to him for taking advantage of the portal like his has. You either adapt or get left behind.

Definitely a huge pickup if true. Dart and Altmyer could be a good competition for the starter with a potential capable backup QB on the roster. MSTSatchmo
Since Dart has used his one time immediate transfer now, he better win the job. However, if he does, I could definitely see Altmyer transferring.
Dawg83
I am in wait and see mode with Dart, admittedly. If you have high expectations for him it’s because you trust his recruiting profile and Kiffin’s track record with QB’s, which I think is reasonable. But he also has enormous shoes to fill and he’s not exactly proven at this stage. Good pickup, just not ready to declare him Corral or Kelly 2.0. I'm definitely not ready to declare Dart or Alt Corral or Kelly 2.0. I was impressed with Alt with the Sugar Bowl effort as a freshman. I can see possible potential with him, very unproven though. Dart played 5ish games for USC did OK as a freshman. He's also very unproven with possible potential. Getting Dart was "huge" to me because OM definitely NEEDED another QB in the room and getting one that has a realistic shot of fighting for the starting spot is big.
