Juicy stuff They must have gone after some really talented players and ticked off somebody with some inside pull at the mhsaa. Most have just turned a blind eye to it for the most part. I am waiting on the head masters carefully crafted statement on the issue. I assume this only is dealing with the sport of football but similar things have gone on in baseball for several years too. There is simply no way in my opinion that these 2 coaches were the only school officials or connected parents who knew of this. It seems some schools simply allowed the players to leave but evidently Tupelo high football bit back in this instance. So you mean to tell me if I am a head baseball coach at a High school, when school is not in session, I am not allowed to coach my child"s summer league baseball team? Thats BS. Thats BS. Not at all. It means you can’t coach your sons team, and recruit one of the kids on his team to come to your school to play for you. You can’t use independent teams to recruit players towards your school. Which AAU and travel ball has been used for this for several years. pancho Posted May 31, 2022 Share Posted May 31, 2022 This particular issue with TCPS is football only and involved 7 on 7 teams but they have openly recruited athletes in all sports for many years. It appears the HC at Tupelo High didn't take kindly to it and stood up and reported them. I am told that he turned in text message conversations between these coaches and his tupelo players that dealt with the player or players transferring to TCPS.
