GCWildcatFan
I wonder if the Philly job coming open affects this hiring process. Seeing that Jimbo Nowell is currently the DC at Philly

Is that how it works in coaching, you can just get out of it for a promotion? I'm not familiar with teaching/coaching contracts.

If it’s a promotion, most of the time the school will release you from your contract.

Depends on if one of them does not include the AD position. I had heard that the Tville job will not include the position of AD, and they obviously hurts your pool of candidates

And that’s two votes that were for the superintendent. The districts were drawn years ago in a way that ensured that mize does not have a voice in elections. Raleigh and Tville determine who is elected.

That is what makes small school look good for potential head coaches. Who are they giving it to if it's not the head football coach?

The rest of them are beat 1. Probably 80% of his beat are taylorsville voters. And that’s the same way Freddie Martin’s beat, and Prentiss Adcock’s beat is too. Their beats are about 20% Mize voters and 80% Raleigh voters. Maybe a little more than that in beat 1 but still majority Raleigh. When they redrew the districts years ago they made sure Mize had no voice. If people from Raleigh and Taylorsville are mad about how the board operates, they have nobody to blame but themselves. BigT
Are these redistricting zones done by the country, or state?

BigT
Sounds like every parent of a mize student should have flooded the school board meeting and should have demanded all 5 supervisors to be present also!
Rebel Bert
School board and Supervisors are elected in same 5 beats. Beat 1 Smith County includes the entire town of Mize per Mize officials request after 2020 census. Beat 4 includes the western side of Smith County from Scott County Line south to the railroad tracks heading west towards Saratoga, Sharon, and Maddox. The southern box is Shady Grove in Mize School zone. All land south of railroad tracts towards Taylorsville and in Taylorsville is Beat 3. This came about when the Federal Government forced each State and County to have at least 1 predominantly African American Beat or District. Majority of the African Americans in Smith lie along the Jasper and Jones County borders. Mize is predominantly 90% White, Raleigh is nearly 70% White, Taylorsville is 55% Black. You simply can't do anything about those numbers except Consolidate into 1 or 2 County Schools in the future. Well I guess you could go over by Stringer and build a largely all Black School. Government might not like it. Each School zone is represented by at least 3 board members. Well Raleigh has 4 board members. Maybe Freddie does or does not represent Taylorsville. Government might not like it. Each School zone is represented by at least 3 board members. Well Raleigh has 4 board members. Maybe Freddie does or does not represent Taylorsville. Freddie represents a small fraction of Taylorsville school district. The majority of his district is Raleigh, then Mize, then Tville. That is the only beat that covers all 3 schools. The majority of beat 2 is Taylorsville, and maybe a little of Raleigh. The majority of beat 3 is Tville, and a little of Mize. The majority of beat 4 is Raleigh and a little of Mize. The majority of beat 5 is Raleigh. The voters of Mize have the least voice of all 3 towns when it comes to electing board members. Raleigh has the most voting power, followed by Tville, then Mize. So if Raleigh voters and Tville voters are upset with the way the board operates, they have nobody to blame but themselves because they hold all the voting power. I imagine, beat 3 will determine whether or not Tville hires Jimbo or not. It’s probably going to be a 3-2 vote. If the principal is allowed to hire her preference, then it could be a 5-0 vote. They usually never go against a principals wishes.
