Taylorsville Job

Taylorsville is open again. Any insights on why the coach is leaving?

Well for one, smith county just doesn’t pay what other places can. But Tville just cannot hold on to a coach for too long for some reason. I had heard this was probably going to happen, and I think coach Seth is actually going to be a coordinator somewhere else. And probably for more money. I liked Seth, he was a good dude.

I knew they don't pay very well, but I think there has to be something internal at Tville. I can't wrap my head around coaches not wanting to stay for more than 2 years with all the talent walking those halls. Any ideas on who the next guy will be?

I've heard that they will most likely promote one of the coordinators on staff.

Whoever the principal wants. If she prefers one of the current assistants, then that’s probably who it will be. Tville will be really good next season, and they will be pretty good the year after that. Then there is probably gonna be a pretty decent a drop off for a couple years.

Done told yall the super and board done killed Taylorsville.  Ain't no support from the county.  They run off the teachers and the coaches and they be letting trouble kids come in from outside the district.  Done heared all the school support staff quitting too.  Won't be no Taylorsville school in a few years the board gets they way.  Super health bad but his cronie going to get the job when he out.

They can’t be that bad because they went to south state back to back. I have seen a ton of great athletes carry a team, but it takes players and coaches to go that far. Tell us who you think should get it

HC was DC and had to run the offense some too.  County won't get him no help.  Best coach his that staff left to be a baseball coach in Jones Co. after last year.  McDonald a good coach.  He'll get a HC job soon or later.

He will be the DC under Boyles at Petal.

Tville school has actually gotten better compared to where it was 5-10 years ago.

Let's hope or we are looking at Smith County Central Timberhaulers down the road either all 9-12 or 10-12 @ Raleigh in 1 high school. I wouldn't want to seeit. But it's becoming a possibility. I an just not sure what they may do with Raleigh Junior High 7-8 grades.

I should have said we are not looking at Consolidateing. I don't think the board is ready and I know the board is split on many issues.

You mean to tell me that he was calling the defense and the offense? Dang that’s a lot.

That shows you just how clueless some people can be. There is no way one coach can do all of that and be successful enough to carry a team to south state. I’ve seen some bad coaches and the couple of Tville games I went to showed a different story. Most people think that if coaches aren’t jumping, hollering, and half way acting a fool that they are not a good coach.

I’m just wondering how you expect it to get better if all you do is get on this page a bash the school, coaches, and administrators. Who would you hire to magically make Tville a great place?

I think it's an administrative problem along with low pay. It's not the teachers and coaches.

I know there have been be a number of teachers from Taylorsville applying for every open teaching position in jones county.  Especially ones that have kids at Taylorsville who will be enrolling the kids in jones county schools if they get the jobs.

The board is split on some stuff, but all of them say they will never support consolidation, but one of them is a puppet to the super and will do whatever the super tells him to do. People have talked about consolidation since the 90’s and it’s never happened. The superintendent is the only one who wants consolidation. The board does not.

People are leaving but the school has gotten better. It had some major issues a few years ago, but the last couple years had seen improvement. Especially in test scores

I am only convinced that 3 are against consolidation. 2 of those are against the Superintendent completely. 1 is definitely a puppet and 1 wish washy. The other represents Taylorsville and can go along with the Superintendent and could be the deciding vote on a 3-2. The Puppet us a no discussion on consolidation but I know better if the Supe wants it. And I know this much:

1 I am not 100% sold you can put 700 students at Raleigh by consolidating all 3 9-12th grades. 10-12th around 500 students I am comfortable with. It's based solely on 2023 numbers. Send all Taylorsville students to Mize and you have what becomes a large 3A or bottom 4A school replacing Magee or Mendenhall after they consolidate. If not Mendenhall or Lawrence County replaces Wingfield in 4A Region 6. In 3A you replace Magee or Noxubee County goes north. The numbers say Enterprise drops to 2A and Raleigh/Scott Central/Pisgah goes 3A anyways. The October numbers will tell the tell this fall. The board better get it right and get Taylorsville right because students are leaving for some reason.

We all know the one in Mize is Hillman puppet and he got half Taylorsville.  One in Raleigh might well be too.  Taylorsville only person would shut down Taylorsville today if they would build a school back in Cherry Grove.  He don't care bout nobody but that area.  Taylorsville got no representation on that board we had three football coach since we won state and two left cause support ain't there from the board and now Hillman got his people as principal too.  He bringing Collins and Bay Spring people in here.  Ain't no Taylorsville people left after this year. Mize got more Taylorsville people than Taylorsville.  They all leaving when school over and they gone consolidate first chance they get.  Go look at Mize and Stringer and WJ how many Taylorsville people they got.

Beat 4 is Mize/Raleigh west of Cohay north of the railroad, Beat 3 is Mize /Taylorsville, Beat 1 is all 3, Beat 2 is all 3, Beat 5 is all Raleigh. Consolidation by fall makes Mize 4A/3A. I am not sure Mize is big enough. I am not sure Raleigh is big enough for all 3. I think Center Ridge, Mineral Springs to Jasler County Line has to go to Raleigh. Not sure where Cherry Grove is but I am told he will be another puppet.
