Based on recruiting rankings of the kids on the team at the time, yes. Hattiesburg defense that year wasn’t as good as west ‘23. But yall had 2-3 individuals on defense that year more talented than almost every individual that west had on defense in ‘23.  West just played together very well and better coached honestly.  On offense y’all’s qb was at his peak.  West qb is a sophomore so who knows how good he will end up being.  Now I do think y’all’s 2018 was better that wests 2018 team that knocked yall out. Sometimes the best team doesn’t win.  See west jones 2010 season and choke job vs Brookhaven at south state for an example.  Or picayune 2012 for another.  Or Wayne county 2008.

I agree. Obviously it goes without saying but sometimes you can have more talent on paper but not have a better team or cohesive unit.
