1A Week 10

The last regular season week for 1A. Some regions playoff teams are decided. Some teams will be decided this week. A few teams battling for a home field advantage game in the first round.

Velma Jackson at Nanih Waiya

West Bolivar at Simmons

Not many appear to be competitive games this week

Not at all. Resurrection and Lumberton appears to be the best game this week. And Lumberton is not very good this year. What’s so crazy is that 1A as a whole is really weak, but the teams at the top are really really good. Velma Jackson would probably win 2A this year. Taylorsville got hit really hard with injuries after 3 good games with Mize, Bay Springs, and Raleigh but now have all their players back and are about to roll along. People forget that Taylorsville not only beat Mize, but also led Bay Springs and Raleigh for a good portion of their games. They had some players go down with injuries and that cost them games against Simpson and Magee. They seem to back healthy now and they won’t lose again until they face Velma Jackson. I don’t think Simmons can beat them.

The biggest game I see is Baldwyn @ TCP. This game will determine the 2 seed in Region 1 causing a different playoff path for the winner/loser.

People forgetting bout Simmons.  Simmons, Velma, & Taylorsville all good.  Taylorsville only one that played anybody.  But them two good too.  With way bracket setup Taylorsville on the road after round 2 I think. They got tough draw.

Simmons is a very good team that people have kinda slept on and ignored this year but my biggest question with them is how can they respond against adversity because their schedule hasn’t been very tough at this point. South playoffs will be fun to watch when it comes down to the final four. Biggersville should walk through the north because they’ve already faced their toughest 1A opponent up here.

I surprised Baldwyn not better than they been.  I thought they be good. Biggersville and Velma got the two best players.

Taylorsville has been put through the ringer already and has come out better because of it.

Their schedule is never tough but, they know how win up there period.

Velma Jackson seen solid but they wouldnt beat Bay Springs nor Raleigh.  I know for a fact they wouldn't have time to throw it.  They get off every once in awhile. But majority of the time their Qb would be running for his life.

I have seen all 3. Velma Jackson is better than both Raleigh and Bay Springs

Doesn’t matter. Regardless of the record, they played much larger schools and blew them out of the water. Bay Springs and Raleigh were both given a hard fought game from Tville that they pulled away with in the 4th quarter. VJ will handle Tville easily.

Region 5 four playoffs teams are locked. 1. Simmons 2. West Tally 3. South Delta 4. West Bolivar. Least they are paired with region 7 teams instead of region 8 teams. Those first round drives wouldve been a nightmare.

Nah, I seen the film.  They RB is good but no worries  bout the rest.  They just chunk deep every pass.  They struggle with Mize last year.

Mize only lost 2 games last year and won their district before losing to Velma. Velma finished 2nd in their region behind Scott central and lost to Scott central again at south state. They were the only 2A team that made SC break a sweat last year. And almost that whole team returned this year.

Thank you I'm telling you I watching video and I'm tell ya they don't won't no parts of Bay Springs nor Raleigh. Because I know up front they going have problems trying block Cam or King then you got Dalyn off edge.

That's rivalry games for all 3 schools of course all 3 schools is going give their best and that was all in the start of season.

If took that logic on what you saying then. I guess Bay Springs would be champ in 1A to 2A because they beat Sc but, Velman Jackson lost to them twice right.

No that’s not using the same logic, because Bay Springs did not return their entire team from last season, they lost most of their production from last season. Velma Jackson returned most of their entire team that lost to SC at south state. They were probably the 2nd best team in 2A last season and they brought everybody back. Raleigh and Bay Springs are a shell of what they were last year. Still good, but nowhere near what they were last season.

Bay Springs is just solid up front and to speak no their no near last team. But here the deal Velma Jackson is good team no doubt.  But they can't hold up 4 quarters with Bay Springs nor Raleigh . You still trying factor in what they did last  year with Mize and to be honest Mize wasn't special last year at all.

 

Remember you said after Bay Springs won their first championship.  You was the one who said they wouldnt be as good then you found they actually then the 2021 team.

There were players on that 2021 Nay Springs team that I thought were seniors that were only juniors. And no, I’m not considering anything they did against Mize. It’s very simple to understand. They went to south state, and lost to the eventual champion Scott Central, and were arguably the 2nd best team in 2A. And they returned basically their whole team this year, including all their star players. They have dominated everybody on their schedule, including 4A and 5A schools. Nobody has scored more than once against them all season and nobody has come within 5 touchdowns of them. And I doubt they have a close game all season.

But all the same time I was telling you point blank. I'm from Bay Springs I talk to Brady I weekly basically I know his brother personally. And basically Bay Springs beat Scott Central last year. And their dominating team that horrible. But will say this I know Bay Springs would beat Velman Jackson.
