Judging the South - Slicks Seven Power Points - September 26

Things have kind of happened since the start of the season that have forced my thoughts and energies elsewhere so I freely admit my being up to date on info is lacking. So much so I have only seen one game and that was week one. I’m starting to get the itch to be somewhere on Friday night as the sun starts going down earlier though.  I will get some 7A worked in during the coming weeks.

I was going to have this as a list of the downtrodden but changed my mind. While some of that will be included what I settled on was just some weekly points that could be discussed or just perused. This list only includes points from the South regions . I might include the North down the road but to include the street gossip I like to work in will impossible without getting around the area. I hate traveling anywhere north of I20 so that’s that.

 

 

 

 

 

Wayne County . You can pin the War Eagles at number on this list until I see fit to take it down.This team is starting to look like a certain coaches teams were at Northeast Jones (those that know. Know. My first shot across the bow) The whole operation is a shell of it’s former self, and frankly the offense is boring . They can’t score points.  Battling in a scoreless game with the likes of a short handed George County team ? GTFOOH. This crap is not up to standard and we supporters deserve some answers.

 

The trail of tears.  Starting in Waynesboro get on Highway 63 into  Leakesville then catch 57 and head south to Pascagoula all along this route you can look right and left seeing  no football accomplishments in fairly recent times. Why? 

 

Laurel as bad as they are defensively will probably slash through region four easily because they can pass the ball a little . Gautier may give them a little trouble but I doubt it.  That makes me sad

 

With the way, it is shaping up in 5A region three whoever gets home-field advantage will probably play for the title . Pencil in Brookhaven if they win that district .

 

A sad bunch 5A is state wide instead of playing to their potential the past contenders have fell off a cliff competitively speaking . I truly don’t have any favorites.

 

I looked forward to a beefed up non region schedule because of less district contests. The drawback to it is some coaches have not put their best effort out there. Instead is just a bunch of stuff they are trying out and would never unveil in a game that really mattered. It’s resulted in a lot of “meh”.

 

With the shape that our season is in right now it pains me to admit this. This West Jones front on both sides is championship level. They have the players but going all the way takes coaching at some point. Is it there ? So far they have cruised but there is coming a time during in a game when everyone will be looking to him to right the ship.  I’ve known Corey since before he was making loops at Sonic. He’s never been in that position. We will see.

@slicklizardI know you've had bigger fish to fry so to speak, not that you wanted that, but you had to do what you had to do.  District play is about to crank up, so hopefully things can get back to a more normal, normal.  There may not be any clarity in 5A for a while and it could be a smokescreen all the way up to the last week of the regular season.  This Friday is an off Friday for us, so my options are open but I still want to go catch a game somewhere.  There's the battle of the cupcake eaters down the road from the house and then there's Poplarville vs. Moss Point up there in the county seat.

Go to WJ vs Prep, so you can get an early preview of who y’all be facing in south state.

It'll definitely be a great ballgame for sure.  I just hope Picayune gets healthy by the time the playoffs start.  If we don't, we might be a quick out.  I certainly don't want it to be that way, but we've got to start playing better though.

I just know it's going to be tight fittin' up there in Calhoun this weekend.  It'll be a great atmosphere for football for sure... and that walk LOL!  I think I'd rather just take my chances and have to do it once instead of twice.

Lost him for a couple series. Our starter ran in the td with 12 seconds to go to cut it to 28 26. Then we added the 2pt. conversion

I am very very pleased with our performance in the non region slate. Still have work to do and get a few guys back. I've seen everything I wanted to see personally in various parts of the last 6 games.
