What’s going on in Wayne County?

Maybe I was wrong about those biscuits . We weren't eating enough of them and probably need to tank up on them the rest of the way . Make more for next week Howard.

I've been told I was a hard S.O.B. several times before and I probably am. Coach has certainly felt my angst this season but right is right and I have to give credit where it is due. There were supposedly changes made to the  team the last couple of weeks . It was evident last night,  From the first snap there was a noticeable difference with the attitude and just nastiness at the line of scrimmage. That's what Wayne County football is all about.

Don't let the score fool you. This game wasn't nearly as close as the score indicates.  Coach has got Laurel's number and that I love.  I'm not going to say I am clearing my calendar for Friday nights next month yet but  last night has got my attention. The crow took a pellet or two to the wing and maybe flying a little crooked but is no where near ready to be eaten yet.  For the record I despise crow. GOOD JOB COACH HANKINS.

To be so big Laurel is so, so soft physically. On offense it looks like they have went to their default mode of the QB dropping back and taking off every play. A couple of times our defensive players just grabbed and took the ball away from their RBs. Their defense didn't want to tackle anymore after the first drive. Overall they are too soft to do anything this time of year,

I really don't care where we are seeded going into the playoffs . Next week needs to be another dominate performance after that let the cards fall where they may. I just want another shot at Gautier.

One thing I didn't care for was Hathorne shutting down the tailgate tents for this game. Why ?

You had the 03 champions there twenty years later amping things up and you tried to throw a wet blanket over it.

All I can say is wow. I’ll take my plate of crow. Credit to Coach Hankins for spreading the offense out more. It looked like we had 4-5 serious playmakers out there, especially our stud WR #12. QB looked like a seasoned vet delivering the ball on time and in rhythm. The biggest change though was the dominance up front.

slick is 100% correct. Shame on Hackthorne for shutting down the tailgating. I heard it was because people were drinking like they have been doing at WC tailgates for well over 20 years. Relax Bubba. Go grab a plate of blackstrap and a cold one. Seems like you need to unwind.

Lets pump the brakes on eating crow meat right now.

Calling it like it is. Laurel had a lot of self inflicted wounds . Granted we took advantage of them but this staff doesn't seem to coach until their backs are against the well. I want to see them win a couple of games in the playoffs before we put the crow in the oven.

I heard some people in the tailgate laughed at Hathorne and he shut it down. Sneaking around and seeing what people had in their cups is right in his wheelhouse though, Let the people party, They work hard for their money.

Friday was the closest to Old school WC football we’ve saw all season. It wasn’t perfect and Coach Hankins would be the first to tell you that. We had way to many penalties, but overall it was just what the doctor ordered. Yes Laurel had several turnovers but we capitalized on them. That’s the first time all season the ball has bounced our way we are usually on the other end of the turnovers.
The past 3-4 weeks Coach Hankins and his staff has made a few changes especially on the offensive side. He still wants to run first but has several good skill guys on the outside and they are getting them the ball. So now defenses are having to respect that and it opens up the run. Defensively we’re as healthy as we’ve been all season. There’s still work to do but WC has made strides in the right direction

I would like to give credit where it is due. This has to be some kind of record for losses in Wayne County and to boot we lose our way into the playoffs.  That’s not easy. So the legacy has a opportunity to be added to.
In short this bring in the family we got going on is going nowhere. We look worse every week and will be eliminated mercifully next Friday.  We have the look of a staff that has mailed it in.

The same thing that’s happened all season boneheaded penalties and turnovers. Even with athletes that catches up to you eventually. Also give credit to Vancleave they played hard and wanted it more and it showed.

This is a bad football team , Period. WC has been reduced to a laughing stock and no one seems to want to fix it. So what happened, nothing . Just like always

Y'all are in danger of morphing into another version of Pascagoula.  Bless you.

I remember and it wasn't that long ago that nobody wanted to play Wayne County. You had to drive past those big state championship billboards going into town and everybody in Waynesboro had War Eagle flags on their vehicles tons of people tailgating by the endzone stands were packed full and that big cannon they shot after touchdowns. It was what I call shut town down on Friday nights and down right some of the best football atmosphere that I have ever seen. I hate to see a winning program that I respect go down the drain. I really hope the Wayne County nation can remove the cancer that has been eating away at their football program before they have nothing left to work with and get that train back rolling.

It’s in the administration it’s not only the football program, it was once a championship basketball program both boys and girls, it was once a championship Softball program many times over and they were heading there in baseball until OG hired Coach McCardle away from us.
That was all under Marcus Boyles, that’s why I always say he was as good of an A.D. as a football coach. He was hands on and brought in the right people.

You see MST this is my friend . We met in school so long ago we are just little blurry images running around as memories. He always took the high road. He was the citizenship award champ.  Oh it wasn’t weakness.  He made sure you got what was coming to you but….. later.
Today I see the same dude that was a teenager. When I look in the mirror it’s the same with me.  At our core neither of us has changed I think.

Me, I always attacked what was the offender head on bulldog lock and shake style dragging it out of its lair to be exposed for all to see. As time whitened our hair and too much sun creased our faces life had it’s way of putting leashes on me keeping me away from people that needed to be reined in . Consequences that you may cause to someone that is undeserving of them makes you pause but it’s always there in my minds eye. Anyway my old cohort is still the same and really I guess at this point in my life I am too but kind of adaptive.

If any of you have ever been around the true bulldogs that are used to take down rank livestock and wild hog you  will understand what I’m describing. When the dog gets in sight of the target and knows that the job you want done their jaws will start popping. Pop,pop,pop…..pop,pop,pop. Their jaws are their force and they are cranking them up.

I’m seeing things I’ve never seen with this team representing Wayne County now. They are running around not knowing what to do and it’s playing on their psyche and attitude. I don’t like what I see at all. Something is wrong. Very wrong. The people that signed off on this regime are hiding and pretending everything is fine. It’s time they answer for this. Is what’s going on what they want. Because the bottom is starting to fall out. This program is so far away from 2015 it might as well be on Pluto.

In the coming days I am going to revisit this with my thoughts as this evolves. This whole thing doesn’t feel right.
I don’t got quite the grip I had as a young man but my jaws are starting to pop.

Yeah we’ve known each other since the early 80’s. Time has hardened us both lol.

Speaking of the eighties well close anyway. Sometime in the nineties WC hired a small school coach from I think somewhere in the delta but not a hundred percent on where he was from. He had just won a title and we were all hyped well as hyped as you could be be with only newspaper and word of mouth. There was one problem with this guy he was a small school coach and got ate alive in the higher class. He only won three games too like our current coach. I think his name was Bumman or something like that.

When all this started three years ago I and others blew a gasket when the so called titled winning coach , as was the said requirement, turned out to be another small school coach Lawrey or somebody. Anyway the dude fell off the map but after a little asking around I know why Hathorne picked him over all the more qualified that applied.  One coach had three or four rings as a head coach and asst. Some of them at Wayne County .Anyway the outcry when it was leaked made him retreat. After pulling the stamp of approval he made a move that confirms what he's always been known to be  from  way back He didn't tell anyone who he selected the next time only the he was a state champ winning coach. He only was telling half the truth . The real requirement was the coach had to run that closed in a phone booth wing offense. Three wins. All this time another small classification coach.

Why were the better options passed over ?

Who all was Lowery  an assistant under ?

He went to coach a jr college albeit after some off the field stuff. The important thing is Bobby called Marcus and told him get over here. The next day. Boyles was hired. There was.certain member of Bobbys staff that I think was a holdover because he lived in Wayne County. He thought he was going to get the job and was not happy. He especially didn't like it when Marcus told him you out. Meet your replacement Coach Todd Mangum. There was a blowup and he had to GTFO. Everyone knows the rest.

When I say this whole demolition is on purpose I mean it.

Actually Coach Boyles was on Hall’s staff. He left Pearl and came to Coach with Bobby.

see i didnt know that either. i always thought he came from Taylorsville to us. The first time I put boots back on he ground at a wayne County game for over ten years was when we played South Panola.

It was easy to see that night that what we had was something special.

Even more to my point imagine your co worker getting promoted over you and wasting no time in telling you to find other employment. That's actually when things got contaminated . The vendetta just took awhile to manifest.

Whatever happens people can never say they don't know why things are the way they are. Believe what you want but thats the way it is.
