Week 10 Thread

Massive week of games nationally. I’ll start with the biggest one of them all!

Vandy at State.- lol. This game is going to be gross. It sounds like Swann and Fluff might actually play? Did not expect that after how they left the Texas game. This feels like a hugely important game for Lebby. State CAN win it. But I don’t believe in this team without Kamario. Prove me wrong, Dogs. But I have Vandy coming into town and winning something like 20-17.

Georgia at Ole Miss - Massive game for OM. Win this one and it would take a big upset for them to not make the Playoff a second year in a row. Might still have a chance with a loss but it would be tough. I’m truly torn on this one, as I believe UGA is the better team. But when in doubt, recent history says pick Ole Miss at home. I think the Rebs get this one 31-27.

Bama at LSU - I have no clue why Bama is rated as high as they are in the CFP rankings. But I don’t think it will last long. LSU has quietly stepped it up of late, and in Baton Rouge, I really like their chances here. I actually have LSU winning this one by double digits.

Kentucky at Tennessee - Excited about this one, think it’s a great opportunity for UK…. But if there’s anything I’ve learned watching Kentucky over the years, it’s that Tennessee is their boogeyman. I think the Vols take this one at home.

Texas at Mizzou - Mizzou is weird (lol of course they are). Texas is good but not great. I’m taking Mizzou in a home upset here.

Miami at Notre Dame - No Toney for the Canes, who have been living dangerously lately. I think ND finally gets its big win here.

Utah at BYU - Top 10 Holy War. Will be a fun game in the early window. I am taking BYU on the road in this one, just a hunch.

I think State finds a way to scratch out a win. 24-10.

Georgia @ Ole Miss. Tempted to take Jawja but Ole Miss has done a good job of rising to the occasion. So Georgia will lead most of the way before Ole Miss finds a way to win late. 35-31.

LSU continues to break the hex that Alabama has had in Bryant Denny West. LSU 30, Bama 16.

Kentucky breaks the Tennessee spell with a win over UT-Knoxville…21-18.

Missouri over Texas 24-22.

ND beats the Thugs in the Catholics vs Convicts game. 38-24.

Utah wins the Mormon battle 28-17.
Auburn over Arkansas in a really ugly game…20-17.

SCAR continues their roll over a slumping A&M team. 42-17.
Minnesota knocks the University of California at Los Angeles from the unbeaten ranks 27-24.

This stretch of games coming up for Lebby remind of 2013 CDM. If you all remember he was on shaky ground at 4-6 going into the Arkansas and Ole Miss games. The much maligned Tyler Russell helped lead us to an overtime win on road against the Razorbacks and then we had the OT win over OM. Which led to the blow out of Rice in the Liberty Bowl. Which led into the 2014 season.

These four games are really crucial for Lebby. He really needs to be 3-1 with a competitive showing in the Egg Bowl to create momentum going into 2027 (plus a bowl game with extra practices). Anything less will be a disappointment though 6-6 given the injuries would not be terrible.

Any thoughts from you guys on this perspective?

Injuries are a reason State is struggling, not an excuse.

Still, losing to this year’s Vandy at home?
Lebby better figure out a way to get 6 wins or he’s gone.

He didn’t have nearly enough credit in the bank built up before the injuries to be able to rely on them as a crutch. At least from my standpoint.

What I struggle with is this…. If you are an optimistic Jeff Lebby believer through and through…. What exactly are you holding onto right now? That if Kamario Taylor comes back and is healthy for a full season, you MIGHT win 7 or 8 games next year? Is that the ceiling worth hanging onto here? And what happens in two years with Kamario is gone to the NFL and this guy still hasn’t recruited competitively whatsoever?

Keenum and Selmon need to decide how badly they want State be competitive in the SEC in this era. If State’s ambition as program is anything less than what you’re seeing at places like Kentucky, Indiana, UCLA, Utah, etc., then let’s all just go ahead and say so and not waste our time putting any time or effort into this charade.

Don’t ask your fanbase to pay the players’ salaries and buy tickets and then tell them that 3-20 in the SEC is acceptable when programs that were similarly stationed to you a year or two ago have gotten their act together. Your arch rival is about to have a season where they’ll be disappointed to ONLY be 9-3, and you’re telling me that three years in this is all State’s program can be.

There is an old expression that would apply to State football right now, that being “don’t pee on me and tell me it’s rain”.

83, I pretty much agree. IF Lebby showed more improvement last year, he would have banked some leniency… he needs to find 2 more wins to survive.

There is not chance in the world this team is winning 2 more games. I mean it would be the most surprising thing I’ve witnessed in all my years of being a State fan if they beat either Auburn or Ole Miss.

If you can’t beat THAT Vandy team, I have zero belief in you against any other SEC team.

Tennessee Tech in two weeks is a good FCS team….. I’m not totally sold on that one being a safe and easy W.

What a rough weekend for all three teams. USM & Ole Miss get blown out at home and State loses to a bad Vanderbilt team.
A couple of games made the weekend a bit less worse … ND beating the Thugs and Michigan losing. Oh and not that I really care but Kiffin losing was okay in my book as well.

Just an awful weekend overall.

Gonna need an explanation for how on God’s green earth Georgia managed to lose to Auburn… In Athens, at that.

That game was after the Georgia-Bama game and Georgia was due for a let down. If you remember, Bama lost to Tennessee the next weekend as well. Plus that is a rivalry game and apparently Georgia forgot that. Throw in the fact they had four turnovers and a missed FG. And that added up to a loss.

How is that for an explanation…

If you told me beforehand that all that happened, I think my reaction would still be “OK so Georgia only won by 14, right?”

Again it was a rivalry game.
It was probably the best thing that could have happened to Georgia, they have been on another level since that game.

Changing the subject. Not sure who has the ugliest offense, State or the Saints?

Both are worse than putrid.
