Bulldogs4
I am going to go with my Wildcats. While we do need to get better with respect to penalties/turnovers, I like our physicality on both sides of the LOS. I would venture to guess that this is most physical Meridian team in well over 10 years. Obviously that does not guarantee a win. And I know Petal is playing good football as well. Coach Boyles is an excellent coach. Like everyone else I was disappointed when he left after one year but I hold no ill will towards him. Our kids have developed well during the season and have confidence now. I think they will get it done despite being on the road. Go Cats!!! maroontide06
I see where this poll is deadlocked at 50% and I can see why. It's not about voting for who you think would win or lose, it's about voting for who has the greater advantage if they win. I voted for Meridian simply because if they do win this game, it would carry more weight and create more shock than if Petal were to win. That's kind of how I looked at it and if you haven't voted yet and are struggling who to pick, that's a way to look at it.
maroontide06
Another way of looking at it would be which team would stir the pot more with a win, and that's probably a better way of wording what this poll means.
Vott
Do not be shocked if Meridian wins this. It is Homecoming week at Petal. And unless your homecoming opponent is a really bad football team it has a recipe for an upset. That goes for any team playing a quality opponent for homecoming. Its the most difficult week of the season for a coaching staff. Senior night could be included as well.
ccbulldog
Meridian has had better success vs Petal than Brandon or Oak Grove the past 10 years usually because they are more athletic. And I think that will be the case this year. If they can not beat themselves with dumb penalties or lapses in focus on plays they can definitely win this game. We would've beat Oak Grove if we had just made our extra points
slicklizard
You could say first place is riding on this game Petal will be in the drivers seat with a win and chaos will reign if Meridian can pull it off. Petal likes to play it close and play for the last possession to protect their sorry defense. If this game is close and Meridian gets the ball with five or six minutes left they will win . They have the kind of style to grind it out and score . Vance won’t do like Brandon did with the lead Its hard to believe that Coach Boyles will lose this game at home plus you know what happens in Petal with officiating. Nobody has really given Petal a good arse whopping yet this season.. This would be a great time for it to happen. Fingers crossed. Meridian has the athletes to do it but they will need a few breaks to keep them hanging around until the end
