I pray they are seeing the same thing that me and lot of other people who follow Picayune are seeing. First off we don't have a offensive line that can block 9 or 10 in the box and we don't have a big back like Dowdell that can break tackles. Tonight Poplarville was in the backfield before we could hand off the ball. I don't know why we can't spread the offense and defense out and give these fast running backs a little space to be able and make a play instead of trying to run thru a gauntlet every play. I love Picayune football and our coaches but man they need to open their eyes up and figure this out. I know for a fact if you give Dennis and his boys some space he will show out. Rant over... I never thought I would read something like this. Lol. Picayune is known for their huge O-Line and it didn't matter the size of the running backs. Ive seen powerful and fast and small and fast. Picayune has been obscurely consistent since early 2000’s, as far as I can tell. Yall due for a couple lean years. It may not have all that much to do with the offense. Its been done so right for so long they probably just thought they would never have to revamp the offense. And for teams who are always one dimensional its probably harder. They ran that same offense from elementary, jr high, then high school if memory serves. West Point the same thing for the last 20 years. Picayune the same. Typically that style offense benefits big strong lines but honestly just needs execution with blocking. The only spread offense team to build a dynasty arguably is oak grove. And they have not been as consistent as the power running dynasties have been. So I would freak out over a down year like it’s bout to be the norm. Most likely it won’t be. Even if you have 2-3 years of being “down”. Heck I hate the air raid type offense that throws to open the run. That’s for teams with weak o line in my opinion. Your right and this is exactly what everyone is talking about this team has plenty of talent but its like having a good race car without a driver this year. Last night the Qb was having trouble hitting a wide open receiver when we did try to throw the ball. Why isn't he on the sideline warming up his arm up when we are on defense instead of standing by the water cooler. We would probably be better off direct snapping the ball to a running back in a spread formation. Im not a coach but I have seen better play calling at a peewee football game. This team has just been overmatched at the LOS against better competition. That’s why they need to try to spread things out some so that it gives the playmakers in the backfield time to make plays. What would Dodd Lee have done by now in a season like this one ? The pipeline hasn't dried up we have a senior rb who had about 3,000 yards last year and 2 or 3 more good ones. Oline is just getting blown up at line of scrimmage because the defenses are bringing the heat every play with 8 or 9 in the box plus our qbs are green behind the ears that doesn't help. The thing I know that would be different with Dodd is this team would be way more disciplined and play more as a team plus he would be calling the offense and making adjustments. We are having a down year because we are getting killed in trenches that's why everyone is saying we need to adjust to it instead of doing the same old thing over and over that doesn't work.
