Rebel Bert
41 minutes ago, Football In MS said: Tupelo & Oxford usually trade out in regions 1 & 2. But this breakdown puts them both solidly in 2. And with the recent rise of Germantown, you take a district whose Top 4 were always the same and throw those feathers up in the air to just shift and scatter. It’s a very different look. That might be where the director kicks in the door and we have 7A with either Oxford or Tuoel I staying in Region 1 for that important change board made to have 7, 6, or 5 team regions in 7A, 6A, 5A starting in 2027. Then if he does it up north then Harrison Central will probably make 7 in Region 4. WELe will have 7, 5, 5, 7 set up.
MSSportsGuy
I will be curious how this plays out. To me the association has been way, way, way too rigid about keeping an equal number of teams in divisions/regions or not letting a school play up or down a class if there is a minimal enrollment difference but would improve the travel conditions for the kids and attendees. Football once a week is one thing, but other sports often play during the week and it's a burden to send teams hours and hours away from home several times a season just for the sake of playing a game. I mean I can see the reasoning - whether or not I personally agree. But it’ll likely cost a reasonably good R1 team a shot in playoffs whereas the same team in R2 would’ve probably gone into playoffs as a 3 seed instead of not going at all. I still think that the overall Top 4 teams in the North and South are unlikely to change. But still. The goal is always to play post season. And there will be legit teams who don’t get that opportunity in a 7-5-5-7 setup.

St Mart will drop to 6A, Meridian to 7A, and Vancleave definitely 6A according to my final numbers and a 100 student diffence for both schools. The mess is going to be that they are required to change schools until the enter a new level. If they are already at the HS they can stay there but if they are entering 9th grade they have to shift. Plus there is a ton of new developments that would have been in St. Martin that will now be in Vancleave.

Pearl now becomes a challenge to West Jones and Hattiesburg in Region 3. Nothing changes in Region 4. Picayune, Pascagoula and the rest. Now if you are PRC or George Co which region would you rather be in? Do not figure in the travel. Just let it depend on who you would rather play

There was old fashioned hate when Picayune and Moss Point squared up. It was a dang war. Getting a win at Dantzler was a big deal.

I had to get private school numbers by googling the school and enrollment or 2025-26. Moss Point was about 20 students from the bottom. They will probably stay 4A for 2 more years.
