There definitely is, depending on which school is getting and which school is losing the transfer.

There isn’t a portal, but I’m sure there is a bootleg portal, and that’s illegal. Too many of these coaches just lay down and let these kids get recruited away, I hope more coaches start putting a stop to it

If they are moving to Oxford they’re eligible no questions asked. If they’re moving to Lafayette County or South Panola they must sit out a season regardless of where they live even if they live into school district. That’s how MHSAA handles Oxford area

South Panola gets an automatic eligible ruling too.

If a family moves to a new district, then there’s nothing you can do. But these players that never move and just claim to live in a different school district need to be ruled ineligible. I can’t believe how many of these smaller schools just rollover and let these bigger schools poach their players.

The Superintendent in a county district can put a stop to it unless said student transfers because parents move into the into the school zone. I am sure some transfer between divorced or separated parents. Nothing you can do if Doctor so and so or businessman Bo moves from Jackson area to Tupelo or the coast as long as necessary paperwork is handled by July 1. But living in Magee zone and attending Mt Olive or Mendenhall is illegal unless parent is a teacher at Mt Olive or Mendenhall as example.

Depending on the move sometimes have to “prove it wasn’t for athletic purposes”.

Amory seems to be sticking with HC Dampeer for now so the rumor of him moving east across state lines must have been just that or maybe he had no takers.  he was asked point blank by school officials and denied it all.  New AD, Coach Patterson is now in charge as Chad Williams is retiring.

Was his job in jeopardy?
