greenandgoldhawk
This is the last week of regular season football. For the north teams congratulations to all school as they have made the playoffs. For the south schools a few districts have games to determine seedings and elimination. Most region champ titles have already been decided. There is an interesting one region brewing with Leflore County and West Tallahatchie. Will Lumberton rebound and defeat Taylorsville? Will Sebastopol beat Ethel and add to the madness for playoff position. Will Leake County beat Noxapater and hold on to the 2nd seed? Does anybody know how the regions are paired for the first round playoffs? THURSDAY Biggersville at Thrasher Byers at Ashland Falkner at Potts Camp French Camp at Coffeeville Leflore County at West Tallahatchie Mount Olive at West Lincoln Nanih Waiya at McAdams Noxapater at Leake County Richton at Newton Salem at Bogue Chitto Sebastopol at Ethel Smithville at Tupelo Christian Stringer at Resurrection Taylorsville at Lumberton Vardaman at Okolona West Bolivar at Simmons West Lowndes at Calhoun City FRIDAY Riverside at Shaw

Rebel Bert
Current bracket for the South: 5-1 Nanih Waiya* 6-4 West Bolivar 7-2 Bogue Chitto/Salem loser 8-3 Lumberton * 6-1 Simmons 5-4 Noxapater* 8-2 Stringer* 7-3 Mt Olive/West Lincoln winner 7-1 Bogue Chitto/Salem winner 8-4 Richton* 5-2 Leake County 6-3 Shaw* 8-1 Taylorsville* 7-4 Mt Olive/West Lincoln loser 6-2 South Delta 5-3 Ethel* *Indicates a change depending on the out come of this week's games. Ex: Lumberton and Stringer wins creates a 3 way tie for 1st in Region 7 at 3-1 records. All 3 would be 1-1 head to head. It goes to points or some other tiebreaker or coin flip. Mount Olive @ Stringer part 2. Both teams have improved. Stringer pulled away late in the first meeting, could we see an upset? I say stringer winning percentages are at 72 percent

I have been to 9 out of 10 Stringer games, and I would say they are playing their best football right now. They have struggled defensively all year until the 2nd half of the Lumberton game and something seemed to click. That Mount Olive game was one of their worst games defensively IMO. You know what they say though, it is hard to beat a team twice. Like I said it would surprise me to see Stringer lose, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see Mount Olive give Stringer a run for their money once again. The delta district both adds and subtract teams in various sports. Houlka volleyball was in the delta regions was split between north and south regions. Also I believe Leflore County was in the south delta volleyball region. I believe Leflore County, who is north in football is in the south and in the delta basketball region. Whatever logic MHSAA is using is something that cant be explained. Edited October 31, 2025 by greenandgoldhawk
