I hope you are better at working for the power company than you are at predicting high school football scores.

Enterprise doesn’t have the athletes to throw the ball much. The system they run is perfect for the players that they have, and it gives them the most opportunity for success.

This is a very accurate statement. There are many smaller schools with similar talent to Enterprise that run a Wing-T system because it fits their personnel and skill level better than modern gun style offenses do. To add on to that, there are also schools that would have more success if they went away from the modern spread and ran a Wing-T styled offense. It really just depends on the personnel you have and what coaches believe gives their team the best opportunity to be successful. People are critical of the Wing-T, but it wins games. Look around the state and think of teams that run it.

I’m a double wing guy, but the wing-t is my next preferred choice. And yes, it’s all dependent upon the skill set that you have player wise. The vast majority of fans want to see the ball in the air all the time, but just being completely honest, the vast majority of fans are really stupid and ignorant when it comes to football. Even the ones that were good athletes in high school that “THINK” they know what’s going on

simply because they were good players 10-20 years ago. Unless you have at least TWO good receivers, spreading it out and trying to throw it around is a waste of time. And even in a spread, most teams are still going to be run-first, or even heavy run. Mize runs a spread, but we still run the double wing as well. And we have about to same amount of success with one offense as we do the other.

I think Mancuso and Higdon have successfully installed the passing game within the wing t. You almost have to have 2 A J Browns  and 1 Metkalph to run the spread. A Dawson Knox or two at tide end will help. Most of your small schools don't have anywhere near that talent. Get could play any position with his leaping ability.

I've been a single wing guy, rather obviously, since I met Joey Porter and some of his Box cohorts.  Did a little background research and discovered where the Box originated... Pop Warner's Single Wing from 1906. Ran it and variations of it (including spread concepts... empty sets, 2x2, Jet and Orbit, Option reads, Jump Pass, etc... until I got old enough to decide it's too dang hot in August to keep going this.

A handful of coaches are still running the SW, and some have had rather marked success doing so (Loyd Star comes to mind... 25-5 running it so far) but some others, too.

Good coaches maximize their team's potential based on personnel. Bad coaches run "their system" regardless of personnel .

There are many of the former and a few of the soon to be looking for a job of the other.

If Mize hadnt scored late the scorte would have been 20-14 and I got Kemper Co/NE Lauderdale 38-21 and Clarkdale/SE Lauderdale 36-0 right.

Wow… you mean if somebody hadn’t scored the score would have been different? This is a revelation.

Wonder what the score would have been if Mize wasn’t missing 3 starters and didn’t have 3 turnovers?
