Pascagoula / Wayne County scrimmage

Pascagoula was up 21-0 it seemed within minutes and then the final was 22-21 Wayne County. Now when I saw that I said Sims put in the bench players and Wayne came back. I have heard a couple of people say Sims left in the starters,  Wayne County turned it up and was on their way to overwhelming them at the end.  Sims is known for blowing leads but this just seems too unlikely in this scrimmage with the varsity still in . Anyone with an unbiased opinion know how it really went ?

It feels like a lot of teams play a half of varsity football and then JV gets a handful of plays in a separate format. I have no idea if that's how they went about it, of course. But it would be weird to me that in a scrimmage with only a half of football being played, that varsity wouldn't play most of the game, if not all. Unless, of course if there was no allotted time for JV outside of that half. Also, if they pulled starters, I don't see how Wayne would score 3 tds in 12 minutes unless it was a bunch of chunk plays. Kinda wild if that's how it went down, though.

I talked to one of their broadcast guys the other day and he said they sat 4-5 starters (RB Jackson and DB Johnson being two of them) and played their "starters" basically a quarter and then started to rotate younger kids in and out afterward. He said it was a mixed bag of rotation guys and some starters but said their true starting rotation only played a few series. He said Wayne scored on 3 big pass plays after starters came out but did have high praise for #5 at Wayne County. He said he looked really, really good.

Did they sit because of injuries?

He said they were healthy but mostly just wanted to take precaution and let younger players that could use the reps play. He mentioned one had just come back mid week from Covid so Sims decided to sit them as well. I think he said it was a RB, DB, WR, an OL and one more, but I cannot remember what position.
