Wildcats1980
Go look at Mobile Co. They are building 5 new football stadiums. Each seat only 3500 and only include concession stand, bathrooms, and ticket both. A cool 5.4 million a piece. Stone also wants to include a new track from the pictures i have seen. Pro bono wont help that much. Edited February 2, 2023 by Wildcats1980
Wildcats1980
Any news out of Stone Co.?
RebelYell
I'm hearing top 3 for the job is Jeff Stockstill, Jacob Aycock, and Todd Lowery. I believe Stockstill is the best choice in my opinion.
TigersFan
Does Aycock have any head experience? Didn't Lowery just get to N. Forrest? What did they do this year?
Game Breaker
Lowery would be a great hire, knowledgeable and has been a winner.

Gulfcoastdevil75
The trend has been to hire young coaches without head coaching experience. Of course, that was Amacker. Amacker, who is retired, is pushing to hire Aycock for the HC and Brad Calcoate for the OL position. Todd makes 85 at NF. He stays out of it I think. Wildcats1980
All hear say from what I was told this morning. All they have done is taken resumes. Deadline is this Friday. Suppose to start the process next week sometime. I think Todd would do a good job but would take a big pay cut. Not sure Stockstill would be a good fit. Stone has the same type of kids Forrest Co. AHS has and he didn’t have much success there. The talent must be dried up if he is even considering the Stone job. Not sure about Aycock. If Amacker is pushing him, I am not sure that will help him or hurt him.

He has had good things to say about him, and says he is the current DC at Poplarville. Thats a state championship caliber team so he has to know a thing or two about how to win. I would think Poplarville and Stone county athletes are about the same

pinebeltsavy
i will put my two cents in on this for fun. Out of the 4 candidates i would pick stockstill. he has done a good job as a coordinator and head coach at every place he has been. lowery hasn't. He won a state championship at corinth but they have been periodically good and have played for several championships in the past. didn't sniff at PC or NF being competitive. Not a bad coach but ........ I put the other two coaches in the same category. Aycock and the OG coach came to programs that had been established as far as going to state championships so they just followed what was there but all coaches have to work up the ladder and do a good job. All good coordinators need a chance but I still think stockstill because of the experience just my opinion

Difference is Stockstill took over a 4-7 team and improved them by two wins. Dolan took over a 0-11 team and improved them by six wins. I am not knocking Stockstill. Just don’t think he would be a good fit for Stone.
Gulfcoastdevil75
They have already had one candidate on campus. Any word on interviews?

I don’t know how true that is. I was told earlier this week interviews will start sometime next week. Expect the Superintendent to make the hire. She will hire whoever she wants. Was also told former AD Greg Amacker is pushing Aycock from Poplarville. If so look for her to name him the new head coach.

I’m not sure how a guy with maybe two winning seasons in 10-12 years still could sway this hire but that’s politics. Aycock was on campus. My sources say that he is not sold on Stone due to the lack of talent coming back. Plus the new District.
DapperDanMan
I apologize if this has already been discussed, but with the new facilities being built are they also putting more money in the head coaches pocket along with his staff?
