They struggled to beat Florence, yes they did beat them, but if that is your toughest opponent thus far what is there to gauge them?  They definitely are a playoff team in our district, but how they fare against Pascagoula, George County and West Harrison will give a clearer picture there.

I’m honestly just hoping for some better competition for the Tide to force them to play better heading into the playoffs. I’m thinking that if George Cty. can integrate their transfer talent into the offense, they will be the best competition overall rather than Hancock or Goula. Also glad to see W. Harrison playing better.

Our game against y'all should be more than enough to force us to play better.  If it's not Picayune won't be playing football in December.

Warren Central and South Panola apparently are the two best teams in 6A North right now. I’m gonna have to go watch some of their replays this week to really judge for myself. I caught a little bit of WC earlier this year. Also Lake Cormorant is 6-0 right now. Don’t know how good they really are. But there are some good teams in the North this year.

West Harrison and Hancock are in the same boat in my opinion. Have not played or beaten anyone of real substance. Hancock finally played a team with a pulse and it took a last second kick to win it. While they are improved, I do not believe it is what their record indicates. Best team West Harrison has played is Sumrall who beat them. West Harrison has not played anyone good. George County and Pascagoula have been more tested in pre region games than those two. Does that mean they will beat them? Who knows. The gap between Picayune and West Jones has shrunk. I will admit I was not sure if West Jones had the pieces to beat Picayune but after non-region play,  you have to think they do now. So to me, it is them two right now and then you can roll the dice and get Hattiesburg, George County, Hancock, Pascagoula or Terry. I think all 5 of those teams are right there with one another. West Harrison could be a tough out and surprise, I just need to see more than I have.

West Jones is damn good man. One of the better D lines I’ve seen this year. Only question I have is can that QB win it in a tight game against the better teams they’ll play next month. I’m not that crazy about their QB play but everything else is there.

I am man enough to admit when I am wrong and they definitely look better than I thought they would. Defense is good enough to stuff anyone. If they get the offense going they will be the favorite most likely to come out of the south. A lot of things can happen over the next 5 weeks.

Some of the folks I've talked to that have seen some 6A north teams and played them do agree that Warren Central and South Panola are 2 of the best teams. Lake Comarant is the wild card. Warren Central has a great D but they get a little undisciplined at time.

I’m now seeing that their opponents have 10 wins between the 6 of them, so rescinding my endorsement. They’re notorious for padding the early season record, then showing up against O.S. in the first old 6A district game and not being competitive. While I’m sure they are better suited to this lower class, I would have liked to have seen them playing tougher games to prepare for what now faces them.

I still think Grenada is a huge sleeper in the north. They got Lake Cormorant this week should be a very interesting game.

I can't believe I didn't mention Grenada because I did hear they were solid. These five or six weeks will definitely be interesting and the strong will survive.

Picayune plays at Pascagoula this week.  I know we're not going to have #6 back this week, but hopefully we've gotten some much needed rest and rehab.  I don't really know much about this Pascagoula team, but this week it's more about Picayune.  I'd like to see Picayune play a cleaner ballgame and that means cleaning up the penalties and fumbles.  I'd also like to see us run the offense with a little bit more finesse because I think that will help our tailbacks out so much more.  I think that will come, but I also think it's something that we've had to relearn or in the process of relearning.  Having Dante back there finesse was something that we didn't really need, but now that he's run out of eligibility and at Oregon we need to have some finesse.  In regards to our defense I'd like to see our secondary play fearless and with some grit.  Hopefully those things will happen.

Is this the final word on his availability? How do I say this gracefully? Is it all about pain management, or are the doctors and coaches holding him a bit longer for the late season run?

He was supposed to be out 4-6 weeks.  I think that's how long it takes for bone to heal.

He’s improving every week. You can tell Corey is bringing him along slowly. He’s hitting some throws now where earlier he was just throwing it in the general direction of the receiver. I’ve have to get out and see picayune but I can say this. This West Jones team is better than last season. They haven’t been hit n the mouth yet but I think they will respond in kind.
I don’t know about the north but 6A South playoffs are going to be fantastic.

Pascagoula and the rest of the division schedule should be a cate walk for the Tide. Im glad to be done with that tough non division schedule every game except Diberville was a 7 -A playoff contender. After the Ocean Springs game that we stunk up all of Picayune with and the bye week, I feel like we learned some things and got some rest that we needed and maybe washed off that stink from last game we will be a better team going forward. We got our good kicker coming back and Davis in a week or 2.
