EnterpriseBulldogsFan
The coast is different from the rest of the state. There are more distractions and more to focus on than football.

You’ll see it on the AHSFHS website, but it wasn’t a playoff championship. Right after those boys played that game they got on a train and went to war. The game was the "Mississippi Independent Scholastic Football Championship", so named in the Daily Herald and Clarion-Ledger - "Independent" meaning teams not affiliated with a conference. The Delta Democrat Times said it was "a benefit game sponsored by The National War Fund and Community Chest of Lauderdale County". (The game was played in Merdian.) Meridian (10-1/7-0) and Greenville (10-0/6-0) were Big Eight Co-Champions. Picayune did play and defeat two Big Eight teams in 1943 - 6-4 Jackson Central (21-6) and 4-3-2 Gulfport (13-0).

They got lucky against you guys. I honestly think OS was still a little hung over from Oak Grove. It’s happened to us before. It’s hard to generate that focus two weeks in a row. Sometimes the playoffs are the luck of the dam draw. Contrary to popular belief I don’t think y’all fall off that much next season. Ocean Springs would have matched up much better against Starkville. They could have scored with them. That crap Brandon trotted out there thinking they could old man football their way past Starkville was a failure. Knowing you were going to have to score points against a dynamic team and not being able to do it ? I’m going to make a prediction here. Brandon coach will never win a gold ball. Maybe down in 2A or something where he only has to have a good defense. Man, I’m glad you’re the one that said all of that so I don’t sound like a sore loser. Give Brandon credit for the turnovers, including the onside kicks, but five turnovers are hard to overcome. They found and exploited weaknesses, which you have to do in the playoffs, yet I still believe that O.S. was the better team. Experience was one key, as O.S. was coming off of the big win that they had not had before. Brandon is there every year. Good for them. And, yes, I too believe that we would have matched up with Starkville better, on defense especially. I also think that the next few years give the Hounds a chance for more good teams. They got experience with several underclass men starting, and even brought in and used the 9th grade talent that hasn’t been beat as a group. QB will be “interesting” to see how quickly the highly thought of 9nth grader Whitehead can be ready, and running back will be stacked, returning the injured Will Smith as a junior plus another 9th grade RB. Playing Picayune will be a tough test, but it’s in the fifth week, allowing some of the youth to mature. Should be interesting if Pennock hangs around. s1nglewing
Glad that's settled. Now I guess, since it's confirmed, folks will stop squawking about private schools doing the same thing?

Most don't even try to hide it, or do it openly at other schools. Everyone knows that public schools recruit, just look at Mack Howard to Oxford. Recruiting doesn’t violate the rules of either association. Private schools wouldn’t exist without recruiting students. Recruiting isn’t the problem. The problem is recruiting + a third-party paying the student’s tuition + for the reason of increasing the school’s athletic prospects. This plainly violates the rules, but it also has resulted in increasing the competition among the best 6A schools and with public schools. The MAIS has looked the other way because this increased competitiveness has, by and large, benefited the perception of the quality of play in these top programs and because it’s run by a MRA booster, and MRA has long been involved in violating the rules. Enforcing the rules would have indirectly hurt Blanton’s son, so they weren’t enforced. Along comes Hartfield, which sees the rules aren’t being enforced, and it takes MRA’s playbook and ups it to the next level.

When I say recruiting, I'm meaning it as paying for the students etc. A certain jackson school text me before the 2021 season and offered to pay by son's tuition, give us a place to stay, and find me a job. No worries about if I'd turn them in or anything. Yeah, Hartfield, Greenville Christian, and Greenville Christian went all in for sure.
