In fact people are filtering into Sumrall every year by the hundreds. Thats why they are going to be a 5a school next year. Football is not a very big to do thing at Sumrall, even though the fan support of the team is ok. Baseball probably rakes in more money than football. I bet their average attendance for baseball is 1,000. Then when they get those home games vs teams like Oak Grove Petal Purvis and Hattiesburg with good fan bases you can add another 500 fans. Actually, you'll see football kids leave OG to go to PCS or Sacred Heart or Sumrall because they get more chances to play. An above average kid who isn't even first string at OG could be a superstar other local schools. These kids want to play. And they'd rather play at a less-winning school than ride the bench at OG. Had some decent years & some tough years at one of the toughest football jobs in the state in Sumrall. Best of luck to whoever takes that job moving to 5A!!
