Makes sense. Obviously I’m not the biggest Meridian lover but I do miss the intensity of the rivalry. I always used to say I looked forward to that game more than playing Petal or Hattiesburg. Up until the recently it was a more meaningful game. The difference now I think is that some years Meridian would straight up out man us with more athletes but now we’re just as athletic as any team in the state. The region is going to be tougher than it has been in a long time with Warren Central in the mix.

Uhhhh.... I get your point and I somewhat agree on some parts of it. I personally don’t get caught up in college recruiting for whatever team I support unless the kid signs the dotted line. And I do think that this social media era has played a big part in the circus that is recruiting these days. But to your point....kids don’t enjoy high school sports any less just because they want offers. You can see that on the field. If anything social media has created platforms for kids that wouldn’t normally get looks to catch the right schools eye. It gives them an added incentive to perform even better on the field and in the class room. Now for the ones that don’t qualify academically.. that’s on them and their support system, and often times the actual school district they’re in. But a scholarship isn’t all about an opportunity to play on the next level it’s also a chance at a free education. Point being... you can still enjoy whatever sport you love and still make goals for yourself.

Eh.... he actually did much better as a first year starter than I expected. And probably could have easily thrown for 3K if it wasn’t for a few blowouts. He has some mechanics to tighten up on but his athletic ability and decision making is exceptional. I’ve seen worse QBs get D1 offers. We’ll see how his senior year plays out.

West Point listed twice

There’s gonna be some really good football in south 6A. With Warren Central moving down region 3 just got tougher. Brandon was young and got a really good coach. Idk much about the coast but I think Ocean Springs returns a good group that gave NWR all they could handle in the playoffs. We’ll get to see if Harrison Central can put up or shut up really quick with OG for their first game. I also think Meridian will be tough. Looking at our schedule, besides Terry there won’t be any breaks for OG this year.

OG has to replace some production on offense but they should be marginally better than last year overall.
