Does anyone read the Mississippi High School Sports Page on Facebook? Now would be a good time to drop a link for this website on there to get more foot traffic over here with football season on the horizon.

It will be. They were down last year so I expect them to be pretty tough. OG seems to have reloaded.

Oak Grove doesn’t play Seminary. They were a last minute fill in last season. Our non region schedule consist of: Harrison Central Wayne Country Hattiesburg John Curtis (LA)

You’re entitled to your opinion. They can definitely be a playoff team with some of those guys they have coming back.

Mmmm….. I think Meridian will be really good. Dunno what they have at QB but they should be good everywhere else.

Aborom just committed to Mississippi State. So I guess we can say we got one.

Unless I’m missing something this isn’t exactly breaking news….this is always the playoff format.

We’ve definitely had our share go D1….and it’s a decently long list. Power 5 the list gets shorter.

Lack of camp attendance, grades, and I think as far as OG we goes there’s been some years we’ve had some really good ball clubs and really good high school talent as a collective but not necessarily Power 5 talent level players.

Kids get offers that you won’t automatically see on 24/7…. Pretty often. Jaylen Aborom who’s one of the better DBs in the state literally just got an offer from MSU 3 days ago. Andrew Maddox Is in the 25 class for that matter. And he has offers from Texas, Bama, Arky, OM etc. The only other one I’m aware of is Jalen Owens in the 24 class with an Austin Peay offer.

If a kid leaves the Big 3 in the pine belt to go to PCS it’s solely because they have a better chance of getting on the field there. That’s it.

And that’s fair….my point really is compared to the rest of the schools in their particular region they are usually the cream of the crop down there. And they actually win championships.

I must have missed this post when I originally scrolled through this thread. Picayune isn’t like the rest of the coast schools. I’ve always looked at them in a different light. They’re much more physical up front and usually trot out a bunch of athletic kids. You don’t beat West Point without that sort of combination. They would put a beat down on a lot of teams in 6A right now.

I disagree. For that matter.. schools have been scrambling at the last minute to schedule games the last two years because of Covid. 4 months is nothing.

Petal will let him go before they are ever really good again I’m afraid. I wasn’t crazy about that hire too begin with. They do have a good young QB though.

Respectfully….. I’d hate for my school to work so hard all year just to play a state Championship game in yet another high school stadium in December… as nice as some of the facilities you guys are naming are.. I’m glad it’s not in consideration. Playing in the D1 stadiums our state has to offer is a reward for the kids.
