  1. Brother, East Central is BAD from what I saw of their jamboree last week. Might be a long season in Hurley.
  2. Oh they want them to practice. How and when they want them to. LOL Don't ya know the MHSAA is all about player safety and acclimatation?!
  3. I am sure it did, but the point still stands. If he was QB1 at a powerhouse program like Milton in a huge football state like Georgia, I do not think he is playing for Hattiesburg HS. Tristen Keys or not. Obviously Lacey has connections and was able to get in contact with his people and got him in there. Which is great for Hattiesburg because it probably answered their biggest question mark offensively.
  4. I mean this in a respectful way. But there is almost 0% chance a kid who is starting at Milton, GA would make the decision to transfer to Hattiesburg. You’re comparing programs on two completely different levels. Brayln went to Milton to be the guy, most likely got beat out (by a 6’1 220 transfer from STA in Florida) and his folks started shopping around. It’s definitely a gain for Hattiesburg, but I highly doubt that kid leaves Milton if he was the starting QB
  5. Here is the full rule from the MHSAA Handbook for 2025-2026 year regarding practice. "The football season shall extend from Monday, August 4, 2025, for classes 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A and 7A through the first full weekend in December. A scrimmage may be played August 22, 2025, for all classes. The regular season playing date will be August 28, 2025, for all classes. (With the beginning of fall football practice, players shall not wear football pads of any kind, football togs or football jerseys. Week 1 (Monday through Friday) helmets, face guards, mouthpieces and shoes are legal for the first week of practice (5 days). Week 2 Monday through Friday, shoulder pads can be worn – shorts/shoulder pads and helmets. After the completion of weeks 1 and 2, players can begin to practice in full gear.)
  6. He transferred into Milton from Milwaukee to be the guy. Then Milton had a transfer apparently move in from St. Thomas Aquinas in Florida who was going to be their QB1 so Hattiesburg was able to gain from that situation.
  7. Sounds like things are still tumultuous in Waynesboro. Interested to see how the War Eagles will look in the Jamboree vs. Pascagoula. Between that, and their pre-region schedule they have a great measuring stick to see what they have early on. I had them picked to be a finalist at South State in 5A honestly.
  8. They will get some confidence if nothing else from it. LOL
  9. It will all work itself out in the end but right now I believe you could roll the dice and end up with Picayune, Hattiesburg, West Jones or Pascagoula and I would not call it crazy. 6A south is going to be fun
  10. Go watch some PRC Blue Devil Football! LOL
  11. Practice starts this year August 4. The first 5 days have to be helmet/shorts only. Jamboree games are August 22. So you roughly have 7-8 days of pads/contact to prepare before a “live” game begins. Not a lot in my opinion. Especially when you factor in lost prep time due to heat, weather, etc.
  12. I wish we would start Week 1 the week of Labor Day. Then 10 straight weeks. No Bye weeks. 4 rounds of playoffs for everyone. 1A-4A let top 2 seeds get into playoff instead of 4. 14 total weeks. Finish up same as usual. Schools have a month to prepare for their first game instead of 10 days or whatever it is now. Allows for better heat acclimation for players
  13. 6A south will once again be a gauntlet. Pascagoula, Picayune, West Jones and Hattiesburg are probably the top 4 on paper. Hattiesburg has seemed to reload with a few transfers this off-season as well as some younger players stepping up. QB play will be key for sure. Picayune will be picayune. Hard nosed, disciplined and tough. If Pascagoula can stay healthy and get decent quarterback play from their sophomore, I like their chances to compete. West Jones brings back a good bit of talent too and will be well coached and tough. Wild card will be Gautier. 3 straight trips to south state in 5A (I know it was not very tough), have to imagine they will be a tough out. They lost QB1 in converted RB Solomon Baggett to Ocean Springs this summer so that will hurt I imagine along with replacing some great players on defense. Shaping up to be a fun year.
  14. Matchup with Northeastern is interesting. They are 48-9 and 25-2 in conference. Obviously, overall strength of schedule is probably nowhere near what State went through, they still won and played very well overall. Pitching stats are impressive for them as well. They do have a higher RPI than State I found.
  15. Speaking of former HHS players, what ever happened to Fabian Franklin? He was a stud and signed with TCU, but I do not think I ever saw him on any roster for football after he left HHS.
  16. It certainly has. It has finally made its way to Mississippi and I hate to say it, but it is becoming an adapt or die situation. Everyone is trying to do it, with some obviously having more success than others.
  17. Since he was already on staff, I would imagine he probably kept most of the previous staff.
  18. I agree but I would rather do that on a guy like Ostrander who would be willing to stick around a long time with success over someone else that does not have the ties here that he does.
  19. I would love to see them go after Ostrander from USM. He has deep ties to the state, he recruits really well at a place like USM, so I would imagine given what State has, he could do great there. He has a history of developing solid pitchers and that is something State has needed help with lately. His staff has done a great job with recruiting and developing as well. I think it would be a great hire and he would be successful in time. He has been super successful everywhere he has been and would be a realistic hire in my opinion.
  20. Yeah neither of the cons seem like cons to me, LOL. I have not heard of one school that has had real issues with finding local opponents.
  21. I will say that I have personally only met him once or twice, but all word I have heard from connects I have in the coaching world are not very positive. Most of those guys I trust so 5-7 are all saying the same negative things, I tend to believe it.
  22. As an Ocean Springs parent, I would welcome that. LOL
  23. I think he is at one of the Marion schools.
  24. Call Lane Brady and give it to him.
