I hate doing the well this team did this against this team, but I will this one time. My verdict is still out on how good of a win last night was because watching us beat an Arkansas team who destroyed Arkansas St who was in a dog fight yesterday with a good Iowa St team gives me hope that maybe Arkansas is actually pretty decent. Their defense is what I thought it would be and I do believe their offense is going to look explosive against everyone they play besides LSU. My biggest gripe on our defense is we gotta have guys to set the edge better. Constantly we’re overpursuing and allowing big runs to the outside. We did somewhat a better job of it in the 2H but still at times got caught doing it. Last week it hurt us allowing McGowan to break off big runs. Secondary having four dropped INT’s is a good reason to gripe as well. Next week against Tulane we’ll be going up against almost an identical type of offense with a talented QB that can hurt you with his arm or legs so hopefully can get things worked out before then.

Notre Dame will be 0-2 and somehow still in the top 15 when the new rankings come out.

I’m sure Simmons will be out next week which will give Chambliss another chance to show what he can do. After that the question will be do you go with the hot hand or the highest NIL guy on the team that’s suppose to be your future?

Ty Keys for Poplarville had an impressive night going for 546 yards on the ground and 8 TD’s on 17 carries. He now holds the MS single game rushing record.

Oxford 63 Lafayette 20 The bad guys won and now for the first time since 1982, Oxford leads the series 27-26-2. Knox Kiffin got in on the action tonight scoring right before half then got flagged for throwing up the landshark to the Lafayette band.

I don’t see this one being a trap game because Ole Miss knows Arkansas is coming in upset about last years result not to mention Ole Miss got 3 Arkansas players from last year. One being Kutas who gave the staff his word that if he was redshirted last year he’d return which he didn’t and it upset Pittman. On paper Ole Miss should win this game but if they don’t play their A game or start off slow again there could be an upset brewing before those Louisiana teams even come to town. I wanna see us establish the run game early instead of chunking the ball around the first two drives.

As I typed that I see Simmons practiced today and is now off the injury report. Could be typical Kiffin mind games or could mean he’s fine.

It’s a possibility but I still think it’ll be Simmons’ team even though Chambliss does give more of an added running threat to the offense. I know a lot of Ole Miss fans that has already been calling for the change. I’m the type that remembers Dart struggling at times his first year at Ole Miss so I say just let Simmons continue to grow confidence. Chambliss has taken all of the QB1 snaps this week in practice so I’m pretty sure he’ll get the nod this week.

When Baldwyn is good that entire fence line is covered with folks standing elbow to elbow. Have enjoyed the couple times I’ve been there to watch a game.

Playing a team that’s only won 5 games in the last 5 years will make you think that.

Not the best showing from Ole Miss early on but I’ll take a SEC road win any day of the week. Still got things to work on, but love how our running game has stepped up so far early in the season.

I think instead of using Alabama as a reference to Enterprise, I would’ve used a school that hasn’t been relevant since the 80’s. That’s just me though.

Never thought I’d pull for State, but they made it easy to root for the instate team in this one.

As for the game, I’ve never been so sure about a game in my life as I am this one. Stoops’ defense over the years have been one to put a stop to the long ball but has been vulnerable to the short game. That plays right into Simmons’ game as long he utilizes the TE like he did last week and something Dart didn’t do last year. I think Lacy will put up another 100 yard game to help him out and it’ll be something like 37-17.

I know he was on both Ole Miss’ and State’s radar this past offseason but I had no idea he landed at UK. He looked good for them and is 2nd in rushing in the SEC so hopefully he found his final spot.
