  1. But do you know who the head coach is there? You could be right but I highly doubt the Foster guy is telling Anthony Hart what to do with his schedule. Looks like he is around 30th in most wins in the state's history.
  2. Yea you may need to check this post again. 6A? Grenada round 1? Columbus is a region game so that is two wins. No dog in the fight just fact checking.
  3. Orr got Noxapater rolling at about this time in his tenure there. Kosy looks good. I don't know about Clarksdale. They weren't good last year and that 20-0 over Coahoma isn't very good considering Simmons beat them by almost 40. It is Louisville's to lose every year.
  4. I agree with you on this. I don't think Biloxi can beat OS but they do have a shot at beating the rest of the division.
  5. SI taking over it was probably not a good thing though.
  6. OS has a couple of guys with D1 offers. They could represent the south in December, but I don't think they have enough to beat Tupelo. They would have to hope someone upsets Tupelo in the North. Not playing a competitive game in district could hurt Tupelo in the playoffs.
  7. In 7th grade coaches need to be on the field. You need to make corrections and be teaching them what they did wrong or right. You aren't on the field to scheme the other 7th grade and that is where a lot of junior high coaches fail.
  8. If the MHSAA wanted to check that I would guess that would get 60% or more of the state.
  9. The first week needs to be in short and shells but Saturday doesn't count as part of the week. That is bucking the system. Again I don't care, but lets not pretend this isn't a loophole in the rule. Also when we were doing games during August at 7:30, you could play at anytime on Saturday, which was another loophole. In other sports that play more than one game per week like baseball or softball, you aren't allowed to play but l believe 3 games from Monday through Friday, but you can play 100 games on Saturday because that doesn't count as part of the week. The misshsaa doesn't really police the weekends. It could be a wild west show if school did whatever they wanted on those days.
  10. You got offended by a figure of speech? Maybe I should have said buck the system. I don't care if teams do it. I am asleep at midnight. The misshaa has very vague rules when it comes to Saturdays and Sundays.
  11. Interesting. Some schools do the midnight practice on Fridays to cheat the system.
  12. I don't disagree, but that isn't what the rule says. It says no pads of any kind for the 1st 5 days, not you can put pads on if you are in shape. We already have a lot of schools breaking the rules with the soft shells. If you are going to make the rules then enforce them. I don't agree with the rule. I think you should be able to wear the soft shells and starting wearing shoulder pads by at least day 4.
  13. I wasn't going to, but there are a few using the old rules. (During the first five (5) days of fall football practice, players shall not wear football pads of any kind, football togs, or football jerseys. Helmets, face guards, mouthpieces, and shoes may be worn. No other pads would be added (see 14-day heat acclimatization on www.misshsaa.com, General, Health & Safety page).
  14. No pads of any kind, during the 1st week. Helmets are the exception.
  15. I have seen a few people post on Twitter(X) of teams practicing with pads on last week. There are even some, who did it while the news cameras were around. Smaller schools did the same thing recently and had the books thrown at them. Will the MHSAA do the same thing to those bigger schools?
  16. Interesting choice of words.
  17. They also have a building at OM. They have had one on USM campus for several years. Thomas Duff is a USM grad. The Southern Miss NIL is at least the 2nd highest in the Sunbelt. Kentucky just ran at a 31m dollar loss even with the SEC welfare. I am going to say Miss State is probably going to be in the same boat soon.
  18. They didn't know only certain Coaches are allowed to recruit by the MHSAA. Mostly at the 7A level.
  19. If he turns them around he needs to be hired by the Cowboys.
  20. The easiest fix to all these "issues" is consolidation. It would probably move us even further up the education ratings list. I think we are 30th now.
  21. 1. How many times is this topic going to come up? It isn't changing. 2. Means less to who? The community? Coaches? Players? Random people on the internet? I am sure those teams who won their 1st state championship or the 1st one in a long time are thinking man that didn't mean as much and if we would have won it 10 or 20 years ago. Let me go tell Tupelo, Choctaw, Heidelberg, Grenada, and Poplarville that their state championship meant less.
