I have not heard that but they did that a few years ago and it led to Coach Mangum leaving directly.

So they name a superintendent two weeks after hiring a football coach. A lot of names withdrew because they wanted to know who they would be working for. I can’t say I know this lady but if memory serves me correctly her husband played football at WC in the 90’s maybe. Good Luck Dr Jones I hope you help the kids in Wayne County become the best they can be.

I may be the only person on here that feels this way but I wish we still voted for Superintendent. This system we are in now is not working in Wayne County. No we didn’t get it right every time but more times than not we did. Allowing the BOE to hire them here is crazy you all just witnessed what a circus we had in a football coaching search. Turn it back over to the voters

My old buddy Slick and I were having a discussion last night of course we tried to narrow it down to the top coach in 5A. Needless to say we were unable to come up with a clear answer. We decided to bring it to MST, 5A is literally an open book. It has always been West Point and whoever is second. Well Brookhaven shook that up this year and also West Point has a new coach. So what’s your thoughts on top three coaches in 5A

I’m sure they have you have three Wayne County Natives on staff. I feel they have been helping I’m not sure how many of the other coaches will be staying. I was told four or five assistants would be hired. Now rather that is true I don’t know but Coach Hankins did bring in most of the staff besides the Wayne County coaches

Absolutely he plans to, he’s here today meeting with the players and the current staff to put his plan in motion. Also meeting with the administration to give them his thoughts. He’s already working on getting staff together but spring game is set for May 15th .

Those have been my thoughts as well. Also as long as he’s principle he will have a big say in who assistant coaches will be in what is still his high school at this point

He was the OC but I’m pretty sure the HC was the play caller. He was the OC when the coach took the Gulfport job. Lampley had a lot of input and that came directly from him to me.

I’m not slick but I believe he can if he puts the right staff together. He will get players out and he is where he wants to be. I think they will be a little more patient with him than usual. I’ve heard a couple of names that he’s thinking of bringing with him and they are WC guys to. Time will tell but this could be a homerun. Also think of the mentors of his that are only a phone call away for advice.

I’m glad it’s over Big Congrats to Pound. Now we shall see how this goes. He definitely bleeds orange and blue no question about that.

I believe they hire someone today. Just my gut feeling no inside information on that. I think they are tired of dragging the drama out

We can agree to disagree on the Superintendent hire. I don’t think we need an outsider we tried that and it didn’t go any differently. I believe we need someone from here with a proven track record. We have more than qualified people right here that knows the things that make our County tick and absolutely do the right thing for our kids. I get it this is a sports talk forum and nobody loves sports more than I do. But we need someone to do what’s right for our kids and their education. In all my years of following WC up and down the roads filming for all the coaches going all the way back to the glory days with Marcus Boyles I can recall four football players that actually made a living playing football. But there have been thousands that graduated. Anyway the superintendent hire is more than football and yes this has been a screwed up mess. The first hire should have been Superintendent, the second hire should have been Principal then football coach. You have lost some good candidates for this job because they wanted to know who they would be working for this is not something I think this is something I know. This was a rushed process because one board member wanted to hire right away. Well right away has not happened and it has made asses out of a lot of people. Anyway I hope they get it right well at this point there’s not a big pool.

Some wanted him others wanted Lampley so it was tabled is my understanding.

Hall did not hire Bubba we are going back to 2000 now lol. I believe Bubba was on staff when he got there but he did make him DC. Hall really liked him as DC to. For some reason I think Bubba was Baseball coach as well. But he really came unglued when Marcus got the head coaching job. Like I said things got pretty heated in the field house

Their beef started when Marcus was named HC over Bubba it was pretty heated. Bubba left for a few years. Marcus went to Petal at the time because he felt it was a better situation at the time for his family nothing to do with a principal job. He spent 11 or 12 years at WC and we are more than thankful for him.
