  1. OM run rules VCU 14-3 in 7 innings today.
  2. MSU rebounded nicely with a 10-1 win today. OM/VCU got cancelled today.
  3. FAR from panic time 83, but yeah... MSU just isn't playing at a high level right now. Playing at a high level in June matters, right now... not so much. Ole Miss won 10-4 tonight and is now 5-0. You can't ask for a better start for OM and I'm happy with it. I'd rather finish strong that start strong though... it's a long season, we'll see how it plays out.

    Gas prices

Gas went up 19 cents per gallon between this morning when I filled up vs prices at lunch today in Tupelo. Hopefully those prices fall before we all start mowing yards this summer, but it's very rare for gas prices to fall in the summer.
  5. OM beat Arkansas State 15-5, game called after 5 innings. It was called due to rain I'm guessing?
  6. Very fair, and I agree. Bianco has had a TON of regular season success at Ole Miss. He's been one of the best regular season coaches in the country. Bianco's postseason record has been far from "bad", but it's far from "great" also. Bianco definitely understands that. I heard him on Cross's show Monday talking about the opening weekend. He basically said: "Yeah, everyone wants a sweep on opening weekend but let's be honest, nobody cares after the season about opening weekend... they care about how many games you won in June."
  7. Ole Miss and/or MSU will be looking for a coach soon, it's a fair discussion here.
  8. It was only one weekend, and against a much lesser opponent... but I don't think OM could ask for a better opening weekend. Won 9-3, 11-1 (7 innings), and 12-2 (8 innings). Pitch counts were kept low, bullpen did good, and a lot of backup position players got some playing time.
  9. If I had to bet after today between MSU and OM making it to Omaha, I'd still bet on MSU. I'll be more than happy to be proven wrong.
  10. OM hitting was expected to be good this year, looks great the first two games. Still, it's ONLY two games and it's a long season.
  11. That's the thing in baseball playing good teams, all of them have a Friday ace. I like MSU's depth to pick up the next 2 games.
  12. OM won 9-3. 4 errors on OM though, hopefully just first game jitters.
  13. MSU lost 3-0, had 1 hit. LBS is a solid team. OM is up 8-2 in the 5th.
  14. MSU lost again tonight. Howland has a better record than Kermit this year, but I'd wager Howland's seat is hotter.
  15. Right now, I think it's 50/50 Kermit is back next year. I don't know the attendance last night, but was told it was pretty bad. If the losses and bad attendance continues, the chances of KC making a move increases. Personally, I'd give Kermit another year... but I don't get a vote.
  16. Ole Miss lost at home to South Carolina in OT tonight. Kermit's seat is getting warmer. I'm glad I'm not Keith Carter. Fans will want a change but who does KC realistically hire to replace Kermit IF he fires him?
  17. LSU beat MSU 69-65. Mizzou beat OM 74-68. Nice effort in the second half by the two MS teams, but not enough. At least we aren't 1-11 Georgia in the basketball conference standings, we have that!
  18. The injuries are the ONLY thing that may give Kermit another year.
  19. Ole Miss is down 41-32 late in the first half to a bad Mizzou team. Who gets fired first, Kermit or Howland? I somewhat think both get 1 more year, but I wouldn't bet on it either way.
  20. B4, I don't know about coach of the year but I do agree it makes sense for Kermit to get another year considering the injuries. We'll see if he gets that year, I don't get a vote either way. Ha
  21. OM and MSU men both lost again tonight. MSU is still in the NIT hunt with some wins. OM is probably in the new coach hunt by now, I hate that for Kermit.
  22. Arkansas upset #1 Auburn tonight, I didn't see that one coming.
  23. On paper, the pitching staff is certainly questionable at OM this year. Bianco ALWAYS seems to have a pretty good pitching staff, even after losing key starters. Should be a fun season to follow for quite a few SEC teams. D1 baseball preseason rankings: 1. Texas (not SEC yet, but I'll throw them in) 2. Arkansas 3. Vandy 4. State 5. Ole Miss 8. LSU 9. Florida 16. Georgia 19. Tennessee
