Congrats to the teams making it to the 2nd round playoffs. 1A north is looking to be more 1 sided contests while 1A south is looking to be more competitive this round. Which road team is looking to snatch a victory on the road? Which team will pull off the upset and continue on the road to the 1A championship game? I think the championship game is setting up to be Baldwyn vs the winner of Taylorsville/Simmons rematch from last playoff. Maybe Vardaman, Velma Jackson, and Lumberton got something to say about my prediction. On another note, if the numbers seen are true and just havent been posted yet by MHSAA, it looks like 151students was the cutoff as Strayhorn, Baldwyn, Velma Jackson, East Marion, Sacred Heart, Enterprise-Lincoln, Leland, and Myrtle are heading to 2A. (3 north schools, 5 south schools) Riverside, Ingomar, Leflore County, West Lincoln, Bogue Chitto, Calhoun City, Richton, and Sebastopol are coming to 1A for the next two years. (2 north, 6 south schools). Ingomar does not play football, and Coldwater school also closed losing yet another north team leaving 1 north school and 6 south schools as far as football is concerned. My guess is that 1 or 2 south teams in the Delta or GTA will not be in the Delta region and/or GTA south region, and will be a north teams next year unless they drop 8 regions for football and have 4 regions instead. The next question then becomes how do you divide the remaining schools into regions. Leflore County, South Delta or West Tallahatchie will likely not be in the delta region and/or somebody in GTA region 6 might get moved to GTA region 4 are my guesses. Which is why I think Leflore County will be back in the Delta district in 1A next year if they drop. However With a 6 team region, either West Tally would likely join a north region, Leflore County or South Delta would join region 6 and push a region 6 team down to region 7. If im not mistaken, teams such as Calhoun CIty, Leflore County, Richton, and Sebastopol were some of the schools among the potential 1A/2A cutoff line. Strayhorn would likely increase to 2A with the addition of some of the Coldwater students.

We shall see how it work out with the new numbers. Citizens of Leflore county as a whole is also voting for a new countywide consolidated high school this November. We shall see how that turns out and what will be the timeframe before the merger if the votes falls through. Leflore County High School is already a borderline school between 1A/2A.

Could be. I dont know how they redrew the district line. It was rumored that the dividing line went along either hwy 51 or I-55. If one of those were true then the majority of the town and students likely would go toward Strayhorn as the majority of the city sits west of those roadways.

If so, it may help Strayhorn. Maybe not in football, but Coldwater is a genetic tree of basketball/track athletes that Im sure will probably resurface soon from that community.

Every other regions 1-4 seeds could be complexed pending game results.

Region 3 Strayhorn is the #1 seed. Potts Camp/Coffeeville winner is the #2 seed and the loser #3 seed. There is no #4 seed.

Region 5 Simmons is the #1 seed. West Tally is the #2 seed. Simmons owns tie breaker over West Tally if tied. South Delta/Shaw winner is the #3 seed and the loser the #4 seed. West Tally owns tie breaker of both schools if tied with either. South Delta/Shaw loser owns tie breaker over Leland if tied with Leland.

Region 7 Taylorsville/Leake County winner is the #1 and the loser #2. Stringer/Mount Olive winner is the #3 and the loser #4.

Region 8 seeding. Lumberton is the #1 seed. East Marion is the #2 seed. Lumberton owns head to head tie breaker if tied with East Marion. Sacred Heart/Enterprise-Lincoln winner is the #3 and the loser is the #4 seed
