Blanked out a second and duh ... we're a week into region play for whatever reason was only thinking about non region games ...

I'll bite on this one. Last year the bulk of the offense revolved around TE Oscar Hampton and RB Dayan Bilbo. The difference in this season's offense has been the emergence of two receivers - Asher Henley and Layton Eder. Henley had two receiving TDs last week plus a TD pass. Eder had a TD rush and TD catch. Special Teams - Waltman has missed one PAT all season and is 1/1 on attempts. A 27 yarder last week vs LB. Henley punts for Vancleave but we rarely punt. Less than 5 I recall all season. Just checked. 4 punts totaling 89 yards with 2 downed inside 20.

Which team from Picayune's schedule do you say Vancleave would defeat ??

LOL My take was I thought you were making a statement by asking two questions most people would have the same general consensus answer for, really. My only opinion is the home team will give a valiant effort and let it fall where it may.

No comparison was made. I stated up front it's "not a power running game." I simply stated Vancleave's defense shut down the run for a half of football. 100% different animal this Friday. Looking forward to the challenge.

While I wouldn't call it a power running game, Hancock totally went away from their passing game in second half vs Vancleave and ran the ball consistently and Vancleave consistently shut it down with a second half shutout. So we shall see.

Man @Tiburon I really don't know why you're being so obtuse about our defense. Poor attempt at humor to me. They've improved from 2021 and played to an outstanding second half shutout against Hancock. Vancleave's offensive line has also improved. One part I love about football is you never know exactly how a game will unfold until it does. Hoping for a good clean game and everyone walks off the field healthy.

Oh !! But just last week you said you don't speak in certainties regarding high school football games. Can't have it both ways.

At this point I'm not disagreeing with you because what you've said seems logical, however, also in this same game, Long Beach touched the ball before going ten yards on a different onside kickoff and Fant for Vancleave chose for Long Beach to re-kick, which resulting in LBHS recovering the second OS kick after moving them back. So how is it not a penalty if this occurred ??

Sometimes reading is hard. I communicated that I was documenting a series of events that led to a 20-0 run. Then I literally said, "no excuses!" Then you want to go on about a list for the next week in a game Vancleave would be a huge underdog and no one would expect a win in the first place. C'mon Man !!

Throws you off seeing two balls placed by two different officials. I don't recall a penalty being announced for illegal touching.

Not the best nite defensively - hopefully what went wrong gets addressed and fixed. On another nite, @maroontide06 I saw several hi-lites of y'all running a single wing I with the wing facing the LOS in a 3 point stance and getting speed sweep handoffs for big gains vs PRC. I can't remember seeing that play run in HS football, but it looked great and blocked very well.

Just like Bill Parcells says, "You are what your record says you are, the score is what it says it is." I was more just giving the sequence of events that led to them scoring 20 in a row. As far as how it got to 51, a young man that usually plays receiver scored the last TD as a running back with starting RB out of game. No excuses.

51-23 with 8:00 left in 4Q , following ensues LBHS OS kick recovery - TD vs VHS backups LBHS OS kick recovery - TD vs VHS backups LBHS OS kick recovery - TD vs VHS starters Now 51-43 - Vancleave recovers OS kick and runs clock out Every OS kick Long Beach's kicker was 1/2 yard offsides with his front plant foot - never called even with an asst coach in Side Judge's ear on last attempt. I believe it was 2Q and the following occurred: Vancleave OS kick recovered at LBHS 46 by Long Beach. 2 game balls were sent into play and given to two different officials. One placed at correct LBHS 46 - the other placed at VHS 46. The wrong ball is picked up and line of scrimmage for 1st down in now the Vancleave 46 - LBHS given 8 free yards of offense. Oh boy !!

The site I use says 09-01-1989 Also lists score as 0-0. Not sure if that was a cancelled game with teams agreeing to tie or an actual wooly-booger of defensive slugfest.

It's one word - "Vancleave" I said in the post "may be reaching a small audience." There is no litmus test for worthy posts and you're not a gate-keeper. I simply decided to take the time to throw together game previews for Vancleave's region games this season and post them to my TWTR and FB. Then I thought, why not post them here. By comparison, if someone wanted to make a post about a Sebastopol vs Leake County game they have every right to do that as well ...

I may be reaching a very small audience with these but I decided to throw together and release to my social media weekly game previews for Vancleave's 2022 Region 4-5A schedule. Do with this what you will.
