Especially since wests best guy in the secondary went down vs Hattiesburg and is done for the year. They are down several other leaders as every injury west suffered this year seemed to be on defense.

In the first round game in 23 west had the game in hand by halftime. 3rd a they were subbing in 2nd string with a mixture of starters. In the 4th it was 9th-10rh graders and suddenly Hancock started hurry up offense (with their starters), score, onside kick, score again, onside kick, score again, onside but west recovers. West puts starters back in. While shaking hands some comments were made back and forth that ended with Reynolds basically congratulating him for having fun trying to run over jr high kids and if there’s another opportunity in the future he will remember to leave his starters in and run the score to 60 or more.

West Jones will score as much as they can in this one. Even if there is a rolling clock they won’t stop. Cory Reynolds has beef with Hancock’s head coach from the 2023 game. Like, he may put forward his best coaching job of the year in this one.

All those games except nej/brookhaven are tossups.

He’s been a head coach 1 year. Too early to rate him. But keeping most of the assistants from Vance on staff, with their knowledge of the kids has sure not hurt.

I saw some petal people raising hell wanting coach fired for them getting beat last night. Looking at Northwest rankin almost every game this season was decided by 3 points. They had some upsets. But petal fans blame the coach. Not realizing they are 3/4-6 and sitting home if not for him. They forget how pitiful they were after he left them the first time. They are totally screwed when he goes. The best coaching job in south MS right now, all classes, is Bilderback at Columbia. If he were to leave them (probably not likely) he will win wherever he goes. Picayune and Oak Grove coaches are also top notch in the current group down south. Up north it’s West Point, Louisville, Grenada and Tupelo coaches. Out side of the those coaches, in my opinion, everyone else needs to be worried when/if they got to get a new one.

There are a bunch of “legend” level coaches starting to retire and there are not nearly as many good or even great coaches to fill those spots. Some teams are winning on their kids talent level alone more so than coaching.

South Jones offense went to sleep after the rb broke his leg a month ago.

Wests best defensive player went down in the first q and is done for the year. Thats 4 starters on defense done for the year. If you go back and watch any of the games that are on YouTube for this season you will see west make no in game changes to the offensive gameplan after halftime since week 2. The kids are not being coached up.

They won tonight. But yeah their big weapon was out 2 weeks. Lost another season ending injury.

Wests safety was hurt in 1st done for year. Thats the 3rd or 4th defensive senior starter season ended due to injury.

wont happen unless the state goes back to 6 classes. Or WJ/hattiesburg/picayune drop to 5A. if jones county school district does what they trying west may drop to 5A

3. They are 3-6/7 all 3 wins in district. 3-1 in district. Play south jones next week. Winner is 2nd place in district. Looser is 3rd I think. South may fall to 4th if they get beat.

After halftime Hattiesburg scored quickly to go up 34-6. west drive for score to make it 34-13. Hattiesburg then fumbled west recovered and drives for score. 34-20 1:52 in 3rd.

West is being out coached badly. Hattiesburg has a lb that has wests snap cadence timed, he’s crossing the line at the snap just to left of wests center every play untouched into the backfield. West coaches have done nothing to slow him and it was obvious from wests 2nd possession he had it timed. Thankfully Reynolds won’t be back at west after 2-3 more weeks.

Well west got turnover in Hattiesburg turnover. Then gave it back 2 plays later and Hattiesburg makes them pay. 27-6 Hattiesburg.

Hattiesburg 20 WJ 6 wj defense doesn’t have the athletes to cover Hattiesburg’s wr’s. And Hattiesburg has a lb that has wests snap cadence timed and is getting to backfield unblocked every snap and west has don’t nothing to try to stop it. this is over if west can’t get done turnovers.

West goes 3 and out and punts then Hattiesburg breaks 65 yard td run in first play. 14-6 Hattiesburg.

And Hattiesburg breaks a kickoff for td almost untouched. Terry, George county and forest hill all almost returned one. South jones almost returned 2

WJ the edge on special teams?? WJ kick coverage is horrible and has been a couple years.?
