  1. Yup. And people only see the side of it they want to see. They don't care if schools are in the same division as schools twice their size as long as they see the matchups they want to see. Pure selfishness.
  2. Top of 5A would be DeSoto Central with 1553 students. Bottom would be Pearl River Central with 780 students. Thats a difference of 773. The top of 4A would be Picayune with 763 students. So the size difference in the 5A division alone would be bigger than the difference of the bottom of 1A all the way to the top of 4A.
  3. There are coaches of the team that don't have a single player on the roster and 3-3 Meridian might not win another game the rest of the season. Settle down.
  4. The enrollment difference between the top of 1A and the bottom of 6A was exactly the same as the enrollment difference between the bottom of 6A to the top of 6A. It needed to happen for the largest schools. It still leads to region games 3 hours apart for 7A but it's better as far as schools not playing in the same region as schools twice their size. Someone at MHSAA had to have a grudge against Tupelo to put them in Region 2 though. They have ridiculous mileage on the year for just 2 away region games. Clinton is 404 miles round trip for them. I think a change in region alignment could help the other classifications.
  5. GCS was purely the aftermath of Covid and someone pulling in public school talent to win in private school ball. A team like that is assembled and was the result of years of public school toughness, coaching, and strength training being thrown into private schools. Thats why they annihilated all those trash private schools. Lamar has a -3 in strength of schedule. NEGATIVE. I'm glad you're proud of them but you sound ridiculous with all your hypotheticals.
  6. Exactly. GCS was made up almost entirely of basically Allstar kids who played in the public schools ball the previous year. These were NOT kids brought up in the private school system. To compare that team to any other private school or use them as an example is laughable.
  7. Gonna be a close one I think. I don't think Brandon has played to their full potential yet. They are a much better team than the results shown so far this season.
  8. Don't bother. Folks that haven't seen them both play in person and aren't around the actual teams can't understand the difference. You'll notice that really only 1 MAIS team has beaten a decent large MHSAA team and that was Greenville Christian which was made almost entirely of seniors who played on multiple MHSAA teams the previous years. Prep who was the Private School Almighty for decades split with Bassfield who was 2A. And their win was in OT after some ridiculous refereeing. The next year Bassfield beat them 41-14. Even MRA 20-21 who they see as the beacon of success would have gotten demolished by Oak Grove, Oxford, West Jones, West Point, and Picayune that year. If they think otherwise, they are delusional. I'd have Jeff Davis County over them that year as well.
  9. There’s 2,400 passes for the endzone. And the stadium seats about 8,500. The stands on the home side are larger than everywhere in the state to my knowledge other than Meridian so it’s deceptive. If we have 7,000 at a game it looks like a ghost town in the stands. The visitors side is about average for 7A I’d say. With tailgaters, workers, teams, coaches, alumni, college coaches, and guests, there’s usually around 3,000 people standing around that field in addition to the stands. There’s a lot more people there than you’d think. Lots of parents stay in the endzone because they can keep an eye on their younger kids in the kids zone as well as enjoy their own food they can bring in. Some are sponsor tents, teacher tents, class reunion tents, administrator tents, etc. Many stay in there and feed the team and coaches after the game as well. There’s a large number of State and Ole Miss fans there who also tailgate on Saturdays as well and it’s just what they enjoy to do and what they’re used to. They almost all stand there and watch the game on the videoboard which I’ll admit I’m guilty of at State games. And if we didn’t have that tailgating, we might have 1,000 or so less fans per game. While I personally wish they were in the stands too, I’m glad they are supporting the team while enjoying themselves. It is what it is.
  10. I think both games are a toss up. Brandon is gonna be solid as usual but so is Picayune. Picayune is just a different kind of animal. If Brandon's D Line is as good as I've seen over the last couple of years, I can't imagine Picayune being able to use their same MO as usual. I don't see them being able to run between the tackles all night. But I could be totally wrong. I think it's gonna be a question of who preforms better, Picayunes secondary or Brandon's D Line. I think there are a lot of uncertainties on both the MC and OS offenses. Both should have pretty salty defenses. This might be a lower scoring affair than expected. I saw mostly good things from MCs special teams this week. That aspect of the game might come in to play more than usual in a battle of defenses. Richardson is a new starter but has quite the leg. Starting field position should lean in MCs favor.
  11. He was both Jr High and Varsity. They practiced at different times and played on different days. There are about 6 coaches that do double duty like that in the Jag Zone. He was at every practice and worked with the running backs.
  12. I'm thinking the same. This is going to lead to new indoor facilities across the state. It's crazy expensive and it will give the schools with more resources a huge advantage. I'm randomly wondering what constitutes "indoor" facilities. Siding? Walls? Walls with HVAC?
  13. I'm just curious how many more days of practice will teams in the north get versus teams on the coast.
  14. I keep hearing the Governor mentioned in the drinking water fiasco. The mayor and city council control the water system just like in every other city or municipality in America. It's just been mismanaged for decades. Every mayor and city council in the country takes care of their own water system. Why is Jackson so bent on blaming the governor for their own failure? They openly fight on television about trash pickup. The incompetence of city management is staring everyone in the face. You get what you vote for. They keep seeing this stuff play out and they keep voting for the same clowns allowing it to happen. I think Tate is an absolute idiot but he isnt to blame for decades of incompetence. The "its the capital city" argument is ridiculous as well. The other 49 capital cities get it done on their own.
  15. I thought you just followed the 15 practices in 21 days guidelines. I wasn't aware of a particular window it had to be done in.
  16. They are still suffering from some bad decisions from years ago. A principal and an AD ran off good teachers and good coaches. They had everything running well under Burton and Boozer. They won the All-Sports award back in those days. Then they had 2 or 3 years of mass exodus with the next administration. They have never fully recovered. I feel like they should have promoted Bolton and kept that staff together to keep it consistent. But they went the completely opposite direction. Anyway. With all those businesses on county line, the renaissance, and around town, they had tons of financial support. That seems to have fallen off too. They have the tools in place. They just have to find the right personnel to get it all back on track and get community support built up to what it once was. I felt like Sam had it going in the right direction but I don't think anyone would question his move to Brandon. They need someone young with a lot of energy and personality. Going after the older "established" coaches who have one foot out the door towards retirement isnt the way to go for long term program building. I wish them all the best. It would be nice to see them get back to where they used to be in all sports.
  17. This is Mississippi.. you might want to swap out the “hear ye” for a “listen up y’all”.
  18. Saying what you don't want to hear isn't yelling at the clouds. Its just the reality of that region. Like I said. They have their entire careers to win it all and prove me wrong.
  19. I’m speaking of the disparaging comments and remarks about Bramlett’s being “last choice”. If you can’t see it, you need to go look again.
  20. Picayune absolutely dominates. They are a VERY good football team almost every year. If not THE best. I’m talking about the largest classification.
