Yes Coach Halford is still coaching baseball at WCU. I thought he might hang it up after they had a 3rd place finish at the NAIA College World Series a few years ago. But the past few years they are still just as good as they have ever been.

I know not many on here probably do not even know about William Carey Basketball. But Head Coach Steve Knight retired today after 44yrs of being their head coach. 819 career wins. 15 trips to the NAIA Tournament ( that is like the NCAA Tournament for small colleges) including a trip to the Final Four. Many conference regular season titles and conference tournament titles as well. Never will there be another coach in any sport at any level stay at one place like he did.

High School Baseball in the Pine Belt area of Mississippi is just loaded. I know they lost the state championship to West Lauderdale. But teams like Petal Oak Grove Sumrall Seminary and others are all title contenders and have played Purvis.

SO MISS fans are drinking spiked kool-aid. They may win the conference and still host a regional, but their expectations of a 50 win regular season and winning every conference series was expecting too much

Hope it gets played. Rainouts could hurt when it comes down to conference tournament seedings. Imagine if you go 20-10 in conference play and another team is 20-9 due to a rainout and they get seeded ahead of you by finishing a half game better.

I cant see 50 wins in the regular season alone. Counting the SBC tournament and then the postseason, that definitely possible. I think its still way too early for everyone to be that high on SO. MISS. despite this hot start by them. Last season they didnt start like they have in 2026 but then got hot in late April and May. If they have to have a stretch where they dont play well, I would rather it come now than at the end of the season. But they will not sweep or take 2 of 3 in every SBC series. They will lose a series somewhere. But I dont see a team sweeping a series from them either.

Has the current staff been helping with workouts for the returning players even though they probably felt like their job was in limbo for the past 2 months

Ok Slick, in your opinion how much time does Pound get to bring Wayne County to the level it was at when he played there? I know WC people will not settle for 6-4 seasons and first round playoff exits in a not so strong South 5a.

So Miss can for sure get to Omaha, but for everyone who thinks that they are about to go say 46-8 in a 54 game regular season, needs to put the brakes on. Baseball is a game that can humble you quickly. All it takes is one unlucky bounce to go against you. 41-13 is my prediction. In fact I think MSU and Ole Miss all win 40 in the regular season
