  1. I think in viewing his overall resume and experience, Brandon should be happy. You are getting a guy who has won over 200 games and 5 state championships. The problem is, as someone eluded above, it has been over a decade since he has even played for a state championship. I think he is a good football coach, but I do not think he really moves the needle for Brandon and I expect them to be a really good program, but not sure they can get over the hump especially with Oak Grove expected to be much stronger and experienced this year.

  2. You’ve gotta get to 13-17 in SEC play at a minimum to have a chance. So that would be a 12-9 finish. And there are some winnable series (UF and SC at home, at Mizzou). But also some really tough ones (at Bama and Auburn, Ole Miss at home). Doesn’t feel likely at all. They’ve played 14 games against teams with a pulse and are 2-12 in them. Only wins are the midweek win against USM and the Friday game at Oklahoma. Other than that, this team does not beat other good teams.

  4. Just seems like State finds ways to lose these last few years. That game followed the same script as so many before it, take a lead into the middle innings and then implode.

  5. 4 walks in one inning is a good formula for a loss. Baseball is a nine inning game. 8 good innings will get cancelled out by one poor inning.
