Whether you are a fan or not, referees have nothing to do with rules that are passed by the NFHS or the Mississippi HSAA. Referees enforce the rules as directed by NFHS and Mississippi HSAA. If coaches don't like the rule, they can vote to change it. Referees don't have that option. In games where the score gets one sided, the referees work harder to keep the players from fighting and other things young folks do when they get frustrated. Coaches still have the ability to agree to a running clock, shortening periods, etc., but they must do that before the second half. Referees are easy targets, but you need to direct your opinion to the rule makers.
