Raleigh will be fine. D'Iberville is greatly improved on DL and OL. What Raleigh got was tough yards all night long. Raleigh had its chances to score 2 more times. D'Iberville toughened up and adjusted both drives in the red zone pushing Raleigh back. They will challenge Gulfport and may win 7A South.

Completely forgot about this game. I expect Hattiesburg to handle business. Still in shock that Laurel came back the way the they did.
-
Laurel/Hattiesburg. Laurel shocked some people by beating WJ..Hattiesburg has to not let the petal loss carry over to this week
-
Madison vs Brandon - Madison was fortunate to beat Pearl in Week 1 and Brandon was throttled by Tupelo. I think this game teaches us a lot about Tupelo, Brandon, Madison and Pearl. South Panola vs Oxford - South Panola lost 26-25 to Desoto Central (who I believe is underrated) and Oxford man handled a really talented Collierville team. Oak Grove vs Germantown - This is the game I want to see more than any other. I think we see where all 3 of these teams stack up in the hierarchy of 7. By all 3 I include Starkville into that fold. West Point vs Starkville - @wpgreenwave51 we will see if Morgan made a difference or not? If I’m betting I say Morgan puts it to West Point and your overrated DC. Corinth vs Itawamba - These are 2 really good football teams. Corinth is a legitimate threat in the north. They return everyone on a defense that was beaten by Kosciusko 14-0 in a dog fight last year to go to the North Half. Picayune vs JA I always like seeing these games vs MHSAA team playing top tier MAIS. MRA vs Hartfield The winner will play JA in the Championship. PCS vs Mize Can Mize legitimately contend with Heidelberg. This is a pretty good gauge of if it is possible.

I’m just hoping the gravitational pull doesn’t keep us at rock bottom this week. We need to play cleaner football and score points. Gulfport just made everything we do look obsolete because nothing worked. I believe Gulfport is as good or better than advertised and they will make a deep run in 7A.
-
I think Picayune definitely bounces back. Now, does that translate to a win? That I am not sure about. I do not believe Jackson Academy probably has much experience with stopping the type of offense Picayune runs, so I think that plays into their favor. However, JA has some really, really talented athletes and playmakers offensively as well. I think it’s a good game, but Jackson Academy wins in the end.

BoKnows and I have joined to do a small weekly review this season. MS is a big state and painting a picture of it with even a football roundup is impossible. We will develop it as the season goes on but the primary goal is for it to be interesting for all classes statewide. Cool Heads Soft Points for August 28 Moving on from a Kiffin doesn't mean a downgrade Oxford dominated Collierville in a game that told its story in the way that they just imposed their will on them when they wanted to. Could it be that they are better off without boy kiffin ? Look out Tupelo here they come. Was it real or AI? Tupelo thrashed Brandon. This game was supposed to at least give some idea on where these teams stood in the hierarchy of their classification. Either Tupelo is really good or Brandon is really freaking bad. Which is it? This game told us nothing. It was like asking AI to create last year’s Tupelo versus last year‘s Brandon The joke writes itself Shetland Gandy really left Tony Vance stacked and was on the cusp of getting Meridian back to prominence. When you can stop laughing, raise one up for Tony Vance. I’ve rode the man’s antics like Seabiscuit for years. One thing I know he knows football. Putting kids out there that don’t turn the ball over and a tough hard nose. defense wins at all levels. Could the worm be turning a little in the south in class 7A ? Welcome back to the conversation. Can you really ever go back home ? If you had told me 10 years ago that a West Jones team coached by Scott Pierson couldn’t adjust to the same play for I don’t know how many touchdowns I would have laughed in your face. To be up by three touchdowns only to get blown out because of said play I still have a hard time believing it really happened. Interesting : Holmes County Central, West Point, Wayne County, Raleigh. Desoto Central, Heidelberg

Predicted Prep Football Scores For 09/04/2026
BoKnows08 replied to EnterpriseBulldogsFan's topic in Football
Kinda like last year when they were poised for the rematch with Louisville in the playoffs and gave up 42 to New Albany. What a shame… Shannon shouldn’t be bad on defense with the athletes they have….. but they are. You convinced me though. I will take Louisville 40-7 (not 41). 7 because Louisville allows one late in JV time. -

Germantown can put up some serious point. Defensively they seem to be really bad or just plain lost the last couple of years. They gave up 52 to Warren central, 43 to Oxford, 35 to Tupelo and 42 to Desoto Central. I could see Germantown Oak Grove being a track meet. I just don’t see Germantown getting many stops and oak grove will. They’re to talented on defense up front not to. Oak Grove should win this game. If they don’t they will go home early this year. -
Does Picayune bounce back this week or do they get skunked again? If they do bounce back is it enough to secure a win? Share your thoughts on this one.

West Jones at Laurel ----Another intriguing game but not for who gets the W.

We are gonna be fine. We can honestly say that the better team did not win. -
As much as I want to flush the petal game I just can't. The coaching from hhs was atrocious. Lacey put way too much trust in his coordinators and it came back to bite us in the rear. It was some stuff going on with hhs that was questionable but nonetheless gotta give credit to Petal because they stayed the course.

Agreed, I have not bet on games in 30+ years. Too unpredictable.
-
If Mize can't stop the PCS passing game then it will be a long up hill battle. PCS has some big boys. Mize has to play their game and mistake free on offense. It can be a close game decided by mistakes, line control, and Mize defensive backs.

UNLV lost to Memphis, more proof of why I don’t bet on games.

Louisville won't score no 41 on Shannon period Shannon is a pretty decent defense team for the last few years -

Haha. Louisville might score 41 in the first half on Shannon. Shannon shouldn’t give up 41 to Louisville……….. but they will! -
Nothing real super surprising for me. Meridian was surprising. I was surprised enterprise Lincoln beat North Forrest. Other than that, I wasn’t really too surprised.
-
Meridian for sure. East Webster beating Choctaw County was up there for me also. I knew East Webster would be good again but beating Choctaw County was a surprise. Choctaw beat them last year 14-0

UNC with an impressive defensive performance against mistake prone TCU for an ugly 15-10 win in Dublin. What a cool trip for the players and fans.
-
Definitely pleasantly surprised. We knew the team would be improved but nobody, I mean nobody expected the result from Friday night. Coach Vance has gotten the kids to play together. Also off the field the kids are showing good character. We will see if we can build on this as the season moves forward. SE Lauderdale appears to be improved. Lanier beating Harrison Central was a surprise. West Lauderdale getting waxed by Seminary was an eye opener. GPT beating Yune was not a surprise but by a blow out and shut out was.
