The multiplier will throw 1A away from the coast with Lumberton being the southern most. Consolidation may send the south or region 5 one direction or another. 2A will get Resurrection and change that class to some degree.

South panola built their dynasty on running it down teams throats and daring them to stop it. No one really could for years. They ran that same offense from elementary, jr high, then high school if memory serves. West Point the same thing for the last 20 years. Picayune the same. Typically that style offense benefits big strong lines but honestly just needs execution with blocking. The only spread offense team to build a dynasty arguably is oak grove. And they have not been as consistent as the power running dynasties have been. So I would freak out over a down year like it’s bout to be the norm. Most likely it won’t be. Even if you have 2-3 years of being “down”. Heck I hate the air raid type offense that throws to open the run. That’s for teams with weak o line in my opinion. I would love to have seen west jones running a picayune or West Point type offense from 2021 through 2025.

I really don’t know Vott, but common sense tells you if something isn’t working to try something else. We just can’t do that for some reason and I think that’s why it’s frustrating.

Thats the thing. Do they even know how? Its been done so right for so long they probably just thought they would never have to revamp the offense. And for teams who are always one dimensional its probably harder. Thats all one dimensional teams. Not just Picayune.

@Hightidewhy were we so timid last night? We played like we were genuinely afraid of #5. Picayune normally isn’t afraid of an opponent, but you could see it in the body language.

Even if you don’t have the personnel to run the normal Picayune offense, the coaching staff needs to adapt and make changes to be versatile on offense. It feels like this team is stuck in a rut they can’t get out of. The coaching staff is just at fault with this as well.

When I walked in the stadium the national anthem was being played. I noticed several law enforcement on the field. They stayed there until after the teams came on to the field. I thought it was odd and wondered why. Then I get home and read something happened pre-game. Can someone who was in the stadium before me explain what happened?

So close but the real season starts in two weeks. The offense is almost there. They are catching the ball much better. The defense still needs work but a lot of young players are getting worked in. It looked like twenty years ago watching West running that designed cut back . It's nice to see it honestly. My head is still ringing from the jug shaking right next me. I hven't seen or heard a crowd like that since before Hathorne killed the spirit of the program. It wasn't a dirty played game . Just two teams going at each other hard. Unless we both end up in same class and division, and both are legit title contenders, it won’t reach what it was 2003-2010. That was the most athletic looking Wayne county team I have seen since at least 2019. They have had 3-4 impressive looking kids a season since then but now they have at least 4 on each side of the ball. Once they piece it together and the turnovers calm down they will be a power again. West defense still is a work in progress. It’s pitiful. They were tired mid 3rd q. The corners are vastly undersized. And they blitz the lbs so much they leaving big gap right in the middle if the offensive line runs or opens a lane in the middle they get chunks of yards. A great offense will get derailed by that defense.

Great game last night. One that both teams deserved to win. Each team was landing haymakers in the 2nd half, and both kept getting up off the mat each time. The rivalry may be back now. WC is certainly on the way back. Laurel and Brookhaven better get ready.

Everyone, at some point, will have a few down years. Picayune has been obscurely consistent since early 2000’s, as far as I can tell. Yall due for a couple lean years. It may not have all that much to do with the offense.

I never thought I would read something like this. Lol. Picayune is known for their huge O-Line and it didn't matter the size of the running backs. Ive seen powerful and fast and small and fast. That’s always been the Picayune way.

By the way, Meridan was trying hard to put another TD on the board in the last few minutes of a running clock game. They were passing every down on last drive. And they would've scored again if they didn't fumble on the 10 ys line with about 2 minutes to go in game. I wondered why Vance was trying to run up the score.

Yes, Vance’s Hattiesburg teams had some drama. If by drama you mean some fights between players after some games. I remember one with George county. I think there was another.

I am glad we don't play next Friday and have 2 weeks to prepare for division play. I pray they are seeing the same thing that me and lot of other people who follow Picayune are seeing. First off we don't have a offensive line that can block 9 or 10 in the box and we don't have a big back like Dowdell that can break tackles. Tonight Poplarville was in the backfield before we could hand off the ball. I don't know why we can't spread the offense and defense out and give these fast running backs a little space to be able and make a play instead of trying to run thru a gauntlet every play. I love Picayune football and our coaches but man they need to open their eyes up and figure this out. I know for a fact if you give Dennis and his boys some space he will show out. Rant over...

A friend of mine said the two coaches had to be separated during the pregame. I have no idea what may have precipitated it. Did not seem to have any issues with the players on the field during the game.
