That's correct unless they are 8 on the coast. Never mind projections are; Region 3: South Jones, Wayne County, Natchez, Florence, Laurel, Brookhaven, North Pike Region 4: Gautier, Stone County, Vancleave, East Central, St Patrick

They have done it in the past Some teams it will next to impossible for them to compete. St. Pats wouldn't be able to compete in 5A outside of soccer. Resurrection almost didn't have enough kids to finish football in 1A shifting to 2A will be tough for them too. With the new 5/7 setup they may not have to shift to Region 3.
-
Playing independent in football would be a nightmare scheduling wise. After September 99% of teams are playing region games. And who would want to play independently knowing that before the season that you have no shot at competing for a playoff spot?
-
St Patrick's number for October 2025 US News and World Report for October 2025 makes them likely 5A. Travel the coast it will be unless they go Region 3. Region 3 will send them to Natchez and Brookhaven travel it is. The deadline to move to MAIS may be past if the current reclassification runs thru 2027.
-
Supposedly a few are saying they will go independent to give them more time.
-
I tend to agree, but travel could be an issue for some of them if they go MAIS. Tupelo Christian, St Patrick, and Resurrection don’t have many MAIS options that wouldn’t involve significantly more travel. I’ll be curious how this plays out.
-
I wonder why most, if not all, wouldn't go MAIS. They'd have much better competition
-
Correction: St Patrick to 5A but I will recheck OLA to 4A Louisville top 4A pending an adjustment up.

I got a feeling that was sarcasm when you typed that. lol

Auburn was my national title pick before the tourney so I guess I’ll stick with my guns and say Auburn wins in 3. I think their pitching is good enough to give OM trouble and they do enough at home to come out ahead. My heart wants to say State wins, and I think they can get a game, but I feel like the bullpen has been a blinking red light for a while now and I worry they’re gonna have a hard time closing out this Georgia offense. If it goes to a Game 3 I think I also like UGA’s third stater better than Stone. So I’ll say UGA wins it in three as well. As for the other Supers: Bama over St. John’s Oregon over Texas (this is my big upset pick for the weekend) Kansas over Oklahoma West Virginia over Cal Poly Little Rock over Troy UNC over USC

Its pretty much all grown talent from there. I have a nephew at sumrall who will be a senior this coming yr and pretty much all the boys on the baseball team are players I have seen him grow up with since they were old enough to start playing ball. Even though hes not on the team I can confirm that is homegrown talent that has played a lot of travel ball together.
-
Does Sumrall grow all the baseball talent there local or is there some(ahem) relocating involved?
-
Georgia is simply a better team than State. Not by very much but better. Now I have no idea what will happen this weekend. I give us a better chance than I would have 2-3-4 weeks ago. Ole Miss & Auburn is a toss up in my opinion. I give Ole Miss the edge here even on the road. Ole Miss has done a good job of finding ways to win close games. And that is the name of the game this time of the year.
-
I laughed at boonevile fans for that because hadn’t it been for sumrall, St. Patrick would’ve had a few championships themselves and no one would’ve said a word

My numbers for October 2025 now puts both schools in 4A. I did have Booneville as the smallest 4A school. Now they get rid of PCS Classification wise.

Who said MAIS teams couldn't compete with MHSAA teams? Didn't we just witness Greenville Christian beat Oak Grove a few years ago? We play Jackson Academy this year at home Week 2 and I expect that to be a dog fight. These private schools from the MAIS are not too good to compete with schools from the MHSAA. The larger classification schools in the MHSAA have numbers and the larger classification MAIS schools have Benjamins. Now if you take a larger MAIS school and put them up against a small MHSAA school, there's no advantage for the MHSAA school. With these larger MAIS schools like MRA, you're not going to beat them via the pocketbook, but you can beat them with size, athleticism, and depth.
-
Don't be surprised if both are in Omaha
-
Definitely will be the most interesting reclassification in a while. Almost every other state has a multiplier for private schools. We were one of the few without it. I think 1.5 is a little high but a 1.3 atleast like Alabama is needed.
-
Isn't it more the fact that they can get athletes from a larger extended area to come to school at said recruiting school?
