  2. I agree but do we expect Mr Neaves and his associates to divey out these type punishments?
  3. I just think some 2 or 3 step process needs to be put in place that includes annual training of coaches and players prior to the season starting like in June or July. I f you are going to throw punches and sling helmets, throw the Gatorade then you need major punishment. As a coach its trash talking that leads to cursing or running of the tongue that provokes things from the other team. Suspension doesn't work then something more permanent may be needed.

  5. State fades unless by a miracle the QB and RB bothwell are 90% by the oklahoma game. The D is riddled with injuries and has a weak front 7 which will be exposed against good teams with SEC caliber talent. I'm still not convinced Ole miss can beat mizzou or auburn at home much less georgia and texas. Bryan Brown has never been a defensive genius and pete may show us all why Saban cut him loose if we just give him time. LSU does probably make it at 9-3. Mizzou won't beat georgia or texas. The vols will crap the bed unless the QB position miraculously heals itself. Florida probably loses the 3 games you mention. Kentucky is a wild card but I agree with your assessment. The winner of the georgia at Bama game will go undefeated. The loser will only have that loss in the regular season. The only game Texas might slip up in is the game at LSU especially if its dark out.
  6. If you want to play the schedule game with all the 1 loss SEC teams: State - still has to play LSU, Texas and OM, all on the road. Playoff seems unlikely, but they’re good enough to maybe win one of those games and potentially finish with 8 or 9 wins. Ole Miss - still has to play Texas and Georgia and has to win at least one of them. Also would need to beat Mizzou and State, among others. If you made me call it today I have OM in the 8-4 or 9-3 range too. But think they’re more likely to make the Playoff than State. I can be convinced they finish 10-2 if they find some semblance of a defense, LSU - still has Bama and Texas at home, and also has State and plays Kentucky and Tennessee on the road. Can they get through all that with only losing one of those games? I’m skeptical.’ I think they finish 9-3. Mizzou - still has to travel to Oxford and Athens, and plays Texas at home. I feel like they’re losing at least 2 of those. Tennessee - probably the easiest overall remaining schedule but they still host Bama and LSU. Will have to win one of those. Florida - still has to play Texas and Georgia. Also makes a trip to Kentucky. Kentucky - they’re done playing the UGA/Bama/Texas tier but have a lot of games against that next tier still. I think they’re good but feel like more of a 7-5 or 8-4 type team at best. And that doesn’t account for the possibility that Bama, UGA, or Texas could fade at some point. But definitely feels like there will be a huge log jam of 8 or 9 win teams, and if anyone can find a way to get to 10-2 they’re a playoff lock.
  7. The MAIS Varsity Voices guys recap Week 7 and preview Week 8. This week the guys are joined by Kevin Griffin, Belhaven Blazers Softball coach, Jackson Prop color analyst, and father of Pittsburgh Pirates' Konnor Griffin.
  8. texas, georgia, bama and 2 others.......I'm not sure there are 2 more who can play consistent enough to make it
  9. Mizzou matched up well against Florida and Austin Simmons had a career day. They’re probably a #14-22 rank by the time it’s all said and done. The B tier for the SEC is stacked this year, State, Mizzou, Florida, Ole Miss, LSU, Tennessee. Going to be a blood bath in the SEC. We may have 5 teams in the playoffs this year
  10. Some of that I agree with. But I am not putting a lifetime ban on someone for ever coaching again. Nor will I suspend a player for two years which would possibly cost him from getting a scholarship because he was not able to be recruited.

  12. Yes, something along those lines would be good. I assure you that the state Ed Superintendent is more worried about how his hair looks than any of this. He still high hats most of the various school officials during required Admin meetings.
  13. Nope PRC is playing pretty good ball. They will be right up at the top regardless of the outcome of Picayune and Goula.
  14. You fine the school, fine the coaches, suspend the players x number of games for 1st offense. 2nd offense requires a double or triple the fine for the school and coaches, suspension for the coaches, and suspended players for the season. 3rd offense 5 times the fees, and permanent suspension from coaching, 2 year probation from playoffs. And make the statement boldly. Required schooling for reinstatement to coaching and playing provided you are freshman or sophomore. Junior or Senior your done no reinstatement nor playing other sports.
  15. That’s the culture I’m talking about. We have allowed players to get away with celebrating and taunting in front of the other team after a win. You can celebrate all you want, but do it on your sideline and not during the handshake. We didn’t have these issues 20 years ago. Now it’s like it happens every other week. It starts at the youth level, and carries on up to high school now.
  16. The Shannon players initiated that fight and got exactly what they were looking for. The Shannon coach made no attempt to get his players under control and went across just to shake hands while his players were taunting the entire sideline. This is my opinion…. Emotions and excitement were very high and kids are going to be kids. They earned a hard fought victory. The Shannon staff should have made an immediate, deliberate attempt to control the kids elation and get them controlled and back to their side of the field and then went to shake hands and took whatever the response was from the Pontotoc staff in terms of voicing their displeasure with the way they were acting and then walked away and celebrated with their boys. Instead they chose to allow kids to continue taunting Pontotoc and just shake hands. Because they chose to ignore their players behavior they will be playing short handed I would assume. Either way it was a bad look.
  17. Maybe not based on the hypothetical Shannon vs West Point game.
  18. Yesterday
  19. West Point would be 5-0 with Pontotoc schedule
  20. Coach Green has certainly improved the defense but the offense is their worst enemy by consistently not sustaining drives and wearing them down by the third quarter. I'm very curious to see the adaptations on offense following the bye week. They can only do so much mid-season but there have to be some tweaks and changes to squeeze more juice out of this offense. I don't envision Pascagoula scoring enough to breakthrough in Picayune for the first time since '88.
  21. I know Merlin ain't gonna want me shedding some light on those West Jones Mustangs, but I got to. They had the thing pieced together with bailing wire and duct tape and should have beaten Petal. That was an incredible performance for them and yes that team that played Friday would have beaten Laurel into submission. They definitely pass the eye test as far as 6A South goes. I just hope they can keep it up.
  22. Shouldn’t the schools or MS dept of education be involved in upholding a condict standard as opposed to the MHSAA who have no control over the employees of a district . People don’t listen until you involve a paycheck
  23. They probably could if they were in Bay's region and classification. Bay is currently on an 18 game skid and their last win was October 11th, 2024 against Moss Point.
  24. lol the Shannon kids were not trying to shake hands. Port Gibson And Hazelhurst fight was bad.
  25. The Pontotoc coaches were near their sideline but not past the numbers as far as the depth onto the field and it appears that the entire Shannon team went to that spot as well. Maybe they were just wanting to shake hands? I agree people who should be in charge appear very much at fault here. Wonder when Ricky renders the verdict?
  26. They probably wont make the playoffs, but can Long Beach snap that 47 region game losing streak this season?
  27. I just saw a video of what triggered the fight between Shannon and Pontotoc, and it was the dang COACHES that initiated the whole thing. Shannon came and celebrated near the pontotoc sideline, that angered some pontotoc coaches who had words and gestures for some Shannon coaches. Then the Shannon coach runs and gets in the faces of the pontotoc coaches and everything goes from there. Personally, I believe Shannon was the biggest culprit by showing poor sportsmanship after the game that caused the pontotoc coaches to voice their displeasure. Also, the Shannon coach is the one who ran up and then caused the whole confrontation by getting in the faces of the pontotoc coaches. If it were my decision, I would slap pontotoc with a hefty fine and probation, and I would slap Shannon with a hefty fine and a postseason ban.
  28. If Picayune can find some offense and if Hancock can find some defense, then it could get real interesting. There certainly isn't a clear cut favorite.
