  1. Past hour
  2. That's right, there had been so much talk of them moving down I just forgot.
  3. Also bringing Arnett back this year hasn't panned out at all. The defense probably cost us that Oklahoma game and yes you can point to the Puckett fumble and interception, but Oklahoma was able to move the ball pretty much at will.
  4. Purvis has a pretty good size home side. It's really tall.
  5. I was optimistic when he was hired. And I still think his offensive scheme is very good. But the program building has not been a strength for him. State hasn’t recruited well and his staff hires have been iffy at best at many positions. I’m open to being wrong on this but right now it sure feels like Lebby is another classic case of “good coordinator, bad head coach”. Which would be the third time that’s happened for State in the last decade. So maybe next time hire someone with head coaching experience, just a thought. Lebby’s winning percentage is worse than Sly Croom’s. And I would argue that Croom was a superior program builder too.
  6. Today
  7. WC can wrap up the region this week by going 4-0 at Purvis. The first since 2013. I had to look twice at that but it's true. Purvis is one of the few places I've never visited for a game. It will be a goodbye of sorts too as they will be going back down a class. A pat on the back to our defensive staff for shaping the defense up after the non region schedule.
  8. HHS offensive numbers are not eye popping. They did get a little inflated against Jim Hill and Forest Hill. If I had to guess I would say they avg maybe 300yds per game. Also Meridian probably held HHS to less than 100yds after you factor in the QB sacks and tackles for loss.
  9. How much leniency does Lebby deserve? His record is flat out awful and his press conferences aren't any better. Dude is out of his element as a HC.
  10. Round 3 you can see R5-1 vs R7-1 & R6-1 vs R8-1. Other than Pass as 8-1 i am not sure of the others.
  11. According to WLBT report on Pearl moving down to 6A they will learn of the region next week.
  12. The stats on MaxPreps only give the stats for 4 games which is incomplete. For the cumulative stats that it gives it has Ducksworth with 968 yards of passing and has them with 439 yards rushing with McQueen as the leading rusher at 208 yards. I realize that doesn’t paint the picture, but I reckon it’s a snippet.
  13. Does anyone have anything or willing to share anything about Hattiesburg’s offense season stats? Are they balanced, rush heavy? The WJ stats are listed above. Hattiesburg’s stats apparently a state secret.
  14. Well if JDC, Tylertown, and South Pike scored almost 30 on Columbia’s defense last year, im sure Pass could’ve done it too but they didnt! That schedule caught up with them! Im not sleep on them tho they are a good team, i just dont see them getting to State
  15. Last year Columbia defense was one of the best in the state. Very few teams put up points on them. Nobody in south 4A has that type of defense this year. Just don't sleep.
  16. I guess my eyes are just getting opened to this, but how do the 4 regions (5 - 8 ) eliminate each other because there’s like 4 sets of seeds. I know there’s an extra week of playoffs, but it seems like there’s some duplication there that you may not be able to avoid such as having to play multiple teams of the same seed.
  17. Oh i know their offense is really good they were good last year as well! They scored alot last year as well and that schedule finally caught up with them and they only scored 6 against Columbia! I just dont trust them because they havent been battle tested so i think their run ends in the 3rd round against McComb
  18. Pass has a real offense. Do not sleep on Travillion, he is a treat. The knock is gonna be "they haven't played anyone", but they aren't new to the rodeo. I don't know what they are defensively, but offense is good forreal. Do not sleep. Poplarville defense is not so great. You can score against them. You just got to outscore them, which is very hard tbh. McComb, if healthy, can do it but its gonna take a near perfect game by them. The collapse they had down there this year was just crazy. Columbia doesn't have enough this year. Mendenhall no. Richland, not at all. Louisville, yes.
  19. If they do then they have a chance to knock off Poplarville and get to state! A pass heavy team can knock em off!
  20. I have really look forward to your posts each week. Real commentary around the south about football. Reminds me of the old board. I wish we could get that board back now more than ever.
  21. Well you were reading my brainwave LOL. What would happen if Pass beat McComb?
  22. @coastball the whole 4A playoff thing has got me thinking. It feels like with the Pass-Poplarville matchup, it would be a South State matchup. The reason why I say that is because I don’t think two 1 seeds can meet sooner than that. Maybe they can though as I’m not as familiar with the 4A playoffs. I honestly would be curious to know when they would actually meet up against each other.
  23. Pass will have to face McComb in the 3rd round! They wont make it to see Poplarville at South State
  24. I am going to say “it depends”. I kinda need to know how they get to whatever record. At 7-5 he’s probably getting an extension and I would say job well day for weathering the storm and winning games in spite of key injuries. He’s very likely back at 6-6 too. The only thing I think that could sway that MAYBE is if they go to Oxford on Black Friday and it’s a 2008, 45-0 style massacre. If they go 5-7, that would mean they lost 7 of 8 to finish the year and lost to Vandy and Auburn at home. I don’t think he’s going to have many in his corner if that happens. There was a lot of smoke before the year that Lebby was told that the expectation was 7-5 better. Maybe the injury situation buys him a little leeway, but how much? I do think it’s really important that State look competitive in these last 5 games. If they go out and lose to Vandy at home and get smoked by Texas, Auburn, and OM…. I don’t know that anyone has any faith in this guy even with Kamario next season. Because I will go ahead and say now, the expectation for a Lebby Year 4 with a returning Kamario would be 24 team Playoff or bust. I think that much would be pretty cut and dry.
  25. Yesterday
  26. It always has been an injury that lingers. You really didn’t want him to keep trying to play and end up causing another injury not being at full strength. They need to get bowl eligible to carry any positive momentum into the offseason, but I agree Lebby won’t be going anywhere this year unless they lose to TN Tech.
  27. Honestly, I don’t think he is any trouble this year. Hopefully AJ Swann can play going forward. At least he is a player with game experience. I know some of our fans have the patience of a gnat but I don’t think Lebby should be fired this year. Of course I am from the old school that feels like you should give a coach at least 5 years or even more before considering a change. We all talked about having some stability at the HC position after having 4 HC’s in six years. We are only three years into Lebby’s tenure. Give him a chance to succeed. Regarding Taylor, when I first heard turf toe, I was of the mind that he was probably done for the season. It is an impossible injury to recover from quickly. Again I am interested in seeing how we play Saturday.
  28. Huge loss for State. How many does State need to win for Lebby to be safe? 7 is definitely safe. 6 is probably 50/50? 5 and he’s toast.
