Unofficial Numbers I've heard for this count are Amory 312, Booneville 310, Mooreville 318, Ripley 308. Should be interesting to see where that cut line is for 3 and 4A.

Caledonia at Pontotoc tonight Okolona at Calhoun City tonight

lots of very soft non competitors out there today. play the game and keep all the personal feelings at the house.

So, I’m assuming Chunky and Coastball are participation trophy parents. It’s the defense’s job to stop the offense. If you can’t handle that, I’m sure they some type of intramural sports for y’all

Yes the coach deserved it. Glad he was fired. And yes there are some in Mississippi who would do it if they could.

Potential for a really good weekend. iF Taylor and Bothwell were healthy, that game is a tossup with LSU. If they’re limited, LSU may make it ugly. Then you have the which one shows up questions: Ole Miss that beat LSU or lost to Florida? Mizzou that beat Florida or lost to State? Texas that beat Ohio State or lost to Oklahoma? Florida that beat Ole Miss or lost to South Carolina ? I feel strongly UGA beats Auburn, other than that it’s a crapshoot weekend. BTW- well done on your Arkansas Vandy comment… a winner must be declared! Lulz

Up or down 15 students i can see due to transfers, dropouts, homeschooling, going to private schools, failing 8th graders, promoting juniors from 11th to 12th grade, etc. But 124 plus for Lafayette that's alot of students moving in, failing 11th grade, etc. And don't get me wrong i can see parents to Oxford area, enrolling their students at Ole Miss , letting children live at home while attending college and have maybe 1 or 2 other children that fit into the 9th thru 11th grades. I know they do it because a Nurse high up at UMC moved to Starkville for her son to live at home while he attended MSU and she got a job at Oktibbeha hospital. I worked with her husband before he left for another job as salesman. Something similar to what Meridian coach is doing now.

Hernando @ Tupelo tonight New Albany @ South Pontotoc tonight

Yes, there are probably some who would cave to an influential parent.

Just read about a coach in Oregon getting fired for doing an onside kick in a 63-0 win with the kick coming in the 2nd qtr and his team up 56-0. Without naming the school or schools, do you think there are any A.D."s or superintendents in Mississippi who would do the same thing and fire a coach for doing that? And did that coach deserve it?

Perception of George County High School Football
coastball replied to HailState58's topic in Football
I have not seen them lately but the past few years it seems best athletes went to offense and defense had the rest to best they could. Seemed locked in on MUST two platoon it and I know there were years where the defense was quite porous. -
i agree on that. I just feel that some of these have turned in numbers quite different from their 2025 figures. I anxiously await

Perception of George County High School Football

Also, just a small add as to who I think GC should schedule each season (in no particular order) with a six team non-region schedule in the current class format (no open week): - Greene County (Battle for the Bell) - Stone (Battle of Highway 26) - East Central (Battle of Highway 63) - Vancleave (Battle of Highway 57) - Ocean Springs - Moss Point (Shipyard Bowl) *I would've placed Gautier and Pascagoula in there, but I think that in a normal region placement George County likely plays those two teams anyway. -
Since the 2000 season, George County Football has seen a wide range of success through the leadership of seven different head coaches in Andrew Hickman, Al Jones, Steve Jones, John Douglass, Matt Caldwell, James Ray, and Kelly Causey. From the outstanding run in the early 00's to the below-average-to-slightly-above-average run in the 2010's, and now the current up-and-down state of affairs of the 2020's, many a fan of the Rebel contingent have been scratching their heads wondering what it would take for the program to get back to the double-digit winning seasons of years past. Is it a lack of talent? It would seem not, as George County has been the home of four Dandy Dozen selections (McKinnley Jackson, M.J. Daniels, Marquez "Mojo" Dortch, Deuce Knight) and a host of other JUCO and second level players throughout the past two decades. Perhaps the talent isn't being utilized to the highest level. Is fan involvement mostly toxic rather than helpful? Has defense gotten worse? Is the issue administrative support or a lack thereof? School culture? Does a certain type of coach fit this program better than others? Has George County missed out on home-run hires in the past? One thing is for certain- THE PEOPLE WANT ANSWERS!!

Id rather Meridian go north and keep Jim Hill in the south. LOL

That's a big jump for Lafayette. Makes me wonder where those kids came from.
-
Not official of course but Lafayette supposedly has like 740.....Corinth 466. no numbers but ripley claims to have less than booneville...byhalia and rosa fort are about right from what I'm told. and Myrtle claims to have 143.....It's gonna be some intriguing waiting on all this.

I will say this much .I've seen stranger stuff happen . You have too.(cough, cough snoop conner, cough, cough ) By and large about 15 or 16 games in a row is the point you are on borrowed time. They should be able to get through that region on borrowed time. After that maybe they quit working so hard and gotten fat off of the creampuffs. It only takes one bad game in a one game season. -

I watched most of WP/Pont. Just going off of that if NH or CC can stop the run on the left edge they absolutely can. I can't remember a single pass they threw . They would get to third down and just run left. Run clock, run left. I can't remember WP offense ever looking that bad. They had running backs getting swarmed with no OL even on the screen. More times than not they would block air at the snap. It reminded me of WC with Hankins as our coach. Kids not enjoying a dam thing about it -
only game West Point might win is Columbus they both 0-6, New Hope going to beat West Point this year, West Point can't hardly put up any pts on nobody, that really bad

I watched the West Point livestream against Pontotoc and it wasn’t a good football team that I saw. They were undisciplined and unconditioned. Heck they even looked slow when they ran the football. They may win a game, but if who they play is quicker, leaner and more physical why would you go against picking West Point’s opponent to win?
